The RS Evolutions are actually what they call the "race-ready" raw Evos, which started from the Evo 4 RS, Evo 5 RS and its LHD counterparts the RS2, Evo 6 RS and RS2, even the Evo 6 TME RS. There is even a Evolution VIII MR RS, an MR version running on steel rims. All these RS models are available in white except for the newer LHD RS2 models made for the Euro and other Asian markets. All these does not apply in the US. LHD Asian countries, such as Philippines received all RS2 models that are original LHD.

The USDM Evo 8 RS got its trim from the Japan RS series of Evolutions, trimmed down, ready to race, raw, and brute. Funny only that the US Evo RS had no wing when the RS versions of the resot of the world had wings but only running on steel rims.

it's about time somebody said something about this... i've been seeing "GSR" thrown around in here more than "TYPE-R" and everyone knows (or should know) that there is NO GSR in the US, and the JDM GSR name is associated with the car that we call the MR here. the IX GT is the closest to the base EVO IX here in the states. the GT does have a 5 speed. in the EVO 8's, there were MR's, and even an RS MR with a 6speed, bilstiens, BBS's, you name it. it's got all of the MR performance parts, none of it's luxury parts. in the US there is the RS, the EVO 8 (or 9) and the MR. there is no GSR!!! even in the EVO 8's in japan when they spoke of GSR's it was usually the MR version, not the base EVO 8. why do people insist on calling their car's something it's not? you drive a Lancer Evolution 8 or 9. not a Lancer Evolution GSR.

Oh yeah right. Next time I have a question about a Mitsubishi, I'll just start a poll on EvoM instead of referring to the Mitsubishi Dealer Link, CAPS, my regional and district reps and all the other resources I have at my disposal as an employee.

For all those that have a clue and can grasp basic marketing logic unlike bm97, to add the GSR name now would confuse the general public into thinking something has changed about the straight VIII or IX models, which hasn't. They still want people to know the RS and MR means something different and unique from the normal models such as their limited production and unique features. It doesn't matter what the JDM versions have.

What I think is funny is how it seems only people with MR's and RS' get so bent out of shape over something so trite. Is your ego hurt because someone else might get to have cool letter's after the word Evolution? Calling the car a GSR is not like someone with an EX Civic putting Type R on it. I can't believe you even let the thought cross your mind.

This are pictures of the 2005 LE service manual. I can't wait to see the next nugget of "troof" and denial from burning.

THANK YOU! I've sed that in a few threads already and no one wanted to listen.
NOTICE! He sed "closest" as well.

BTW: Mitsu labeled the Evo as the 8 in it's brochure in 03. And as follow up, they labeled the IX as....you guess. I'm sure you can get it right.

technically speaking it's a GT since it doesn't have s-ayc i agree but i still use it to differentiate between models because the middle in between the usdm rs and mr is called an 8/9 which sounds weird to me

it looks like a term was used in the manual to make it easier for people to locate service related info on the different models, however, this does not mean that the title gsr is in any way official

but sure , ill add that to your nuggets...
me
window stcker = us mitsubishi = no gsr
owners manual = us mitsubishi = no gsr
mitsu's website http://www.mitsubishicars.com/MMSA/j...ures_specs.jsp = us mitsubishi = no gsr
gave these guys a call 1-888-MITSU2005 = misubishi = no gsr
total 4......................

you
caps
service manual
total 2......................

btw - what does 'troof' mean ?

looks to me that the person entering the info for 06 vin , made a mistake calling it the gsr for 06
or
its just a way to make it easier to differentiate the models, but nothing official

I sell their product.

It is official because GSR corresponds to the model code that the cars are imported in under. Its informal because it isn't displayed on the car. It doesn't matter to me that it isn't. I don't need anythign else to refer to the car as a GSR, everyone who knows evos will know what I am talking about. It is also stupid to compare JDM feautres to USDM cars as proof" because none of our cars are 100% equal and parrallel.

The window sticker, 1-888 number and owner's manual all agree because that's what the cars are marketed under. We have an '06 MR and the sticker just says Lancer Evolution MR. Does that mean it isn't a IX? By your logic it isn't.

The conclusions you draw through just plain speculation like "it looks like a term was used in the manual to make it easier for people to locate service related info on the different models, however, this does not mean that the title gsr is in any way official." or that its just the "webguys" or someone made a "mistake" is "troof" but not truth.

You're still keeping score!

OH NOES DEY LID 2 US! SEND IT BACK!

It isn't a IX at all, its in limbo!

-1 for you.

Also, I flipped through this car's whole manual and they don't even mention RS or MR in it either! Your "source" to proof another cars nonexistence can't even prove your car's existence!

Another -1 for you.

But seriously, informally/behind the scenes, whatever you want to say I don't care - the car is a GSR.
