Evo Totaled- Buy back too expensive

For all of those who's been following me along with this, My car is declared totaled now and the insurance company is being very supportive in this.

They are going to give me along the lines of 28K for the car including sales tax not including aftermarket parts. They are willing to let me take out the aftermarket parts OR they will pay me for them with receipts faxed over.

The buy-back price for the car is 1,600 and I don't think I'm going to go with that because I need to a buy a new car really very soon, rental is up in 7 days from now and I need to go auto shopping which sucks because I'm stuck in a training facility for work purpose until Friday.

I don't know if I should pay out of my pocket to tow the car to a friendly neighborhood garage and pay them to part out my car and put back the stockers.. what do you guys think? Is it really worth it.. the insurance company did insists I would be better off doing that then them paying me for the parts.

Edit- BTW, the car has 17.5K miles. Engine is untouched.

you can get the 1600 in just engine parts alone, if you can do most of the work yourself, it would be worth it, or post the thing for like 2g's and have someone else part it out

If you where in california, and the engine and drivetrain is untouched from the wreck I would buy the car back from you for $3,000.

$1600 is a great price and if I where you, I would figure out how to get the cash to buy it. The motor alone is worth 2x-3x that. Then factor in the tranny, rear diff, interior, everything else untouched from the accident.

That is a good buy back price. My buy back was 3600 on an 03 and I had to haggle to get that. If I remember correctly the buy back on my car was originally 20% of the determined market value. So originally it was over 5gs. Buy it back and make some money Bra u are getting the best of it.

For 1600 you should DEFINITELY buy it back. You can get probably 3k for the engine/tranny/TC. Plus selling all of your aftermarket parts. I saw pictures of the car, it's in bad shape, but the plus is that the motor is complete, it doesn't even look touched.

If you don't have a garage or the know how though, I guess letting it go is what you need to do. Man I want to find out if insurance companies will sell cars like this outright for prices this cheap =)
