ticking noise =[

After a long tedious process, i finally got a new transmission and transfer case under warranty for my 03 evo. However, now there is a loud ticking noise when rolling in or out of gear up to approx 25 mph. It gets faster as speed increases and sounds like a metal on metal click. When i first picked up the car i had to have the backplate adjusted because it was scrubbing and sounded similar, however i just went and had both of my front back plates adjusted this morning, it was much quieter but there was still a ticking, as i have driven the noise has come back. Any suggestions, i'm not too sure about back plates but could they get worn out or something? Please help so i know to stop driving if it could be something serious.

If you just got that stuff fixed under warranty, and there is an abnormal noise, you should take it back to the dealer immediately and show them.

are you talking about the backing plate behind the rotors?

You can take it to any Mitsu dealer, as long as you have the phone number of the guys that did the work, if its under warranty any dealer should cover it..

in theory that's what should happen, for some reason mitsu dealerships don't like fixing other mitsu dealers mistakes.

and yes the backing plate behind the rotors

sounds like your CV boots are blown, check to see if there are any holes in them if the run out of grease at first they start ticking then they seize.

If it's warranty work, any dealer will fix it. They have to. I bought my evo in virginia, 2 months later the engine blows in North Dakota. All warranty work was done here in ND no questions asked. They didn't even ask me how it happend. I took it in, and then a few weeks later they called and said to come pick it up with my new engine. On top of that, the name on the title hadn't even been changed into my name and they STILL warrantied it. Valley Imports Fargo ND

well that's a damn good dealer, when my tranny was messed up the dealer down here told me to drive it back to atl cause they should be the ones to fix it, seems like good mitsu dealers are tough to find, and you found one in north dakota

Valley is the ONLY Mitsu dealer in this whole damn state. My insurance did the tow with a flat bed from my house 4 hours away from Valley. What's more, the tow trunk came from 5 hours away to pick it up! The only flat bed in the state available that time (HUGE snow storm 5 Oct). All in all, i got a sweet deal. Although i had to wait 7 weeks to get it back, it was worth it... so far anyway (fingers crossed).

Seems odd to me that EVERY mitsu dealer wouldn't except a car to warranty? They still get paid don't they?

Sometimes Tech's get lazy ans start jaming them or use prybars to get them off. if they do break them they don't give a rts *** they just pop them back in.

This happened to me once in my vette. I noticed as soon as i got it home bcause the rear rims had turned balck from the dipping grease that was getting tossed around.

later that day i got my car back with 2 new CV axels

they claim that the backing plate is warped and will cause no damage but they have to shave it and readjust/align it
