It is very unlikely that the dealership will even check unless they have reason to.

Actually the 06 does have a simple way to see it'c called Mitec do a search.

Saying that the 05/06 has a "checksum" is a little ridiculous because a checksum can be computed externally to whatever data is physically written to the ECU. Mitsubishi can just as easily compute a checksum for an 03 or an 04 and check that against any car's ECU that comes in. Its not like there is something special on the 05 and 06 that makes this possible.

There is not enough info on MITEC on any of the posts I've seen that would tell me why it would be easier to detect a flash. The only info I've seen is that it would possibly make it harder to tamper with what is already written onto the ECU, not that it would make detection any easier. Please provide me with the link that shows this "simple way" to detect a flash with MITEC.

If a customer came in with a BIG driveline claim like TC or trans or blown engine, and the dealership wanted to check, can anyone say DEFINITIVELY that on the 03-04 cars the dealer COULD NOT tell the car was flashed? This is hard to believe (but would be GREAT news)

Remember - with my flash you can have it removed 100% without any trace any time you want for free so a stock ecu is one fed ex trip away

The MITEC system is a sneaky little devil and has little to do with the dealers

I ran into MITEC in my development of the new IX Dyno Flash system and when you confont the MITEC its not fun !

Good news is it does not effect the flashing operation at all

That is not exactly true

EVERY evo IX has a unique CVN number on the data in its ecu

This means they would have to keep a list of cvn numbers to compare the car to

As a practical matter - I have not seen any problems THUS FAR with delaers checking for reflashes

If they start - I can always remove the flash without ANY trace and put it back to 100% stock form at any time for free with no questions asked

So once we flash back to stock, can we send it back to get it reflashed at no extra cost? I'm waiting for some piggybacks and standalones to be more readily available, but if the flash isn't that bad, then I might go that route to start off.

you guys talk on this forum about different ways to trick the dealerships and what not and things they wont notice...

but half of the dealerships actually post on this forum and read everything you say
so whats the point?
