SMC install pics and review

Hi guys,

I thought it would be fair to share some good pictures and great experience. My 05 EVO SMC kit got installed today and tomorrow it will be tuned by Al(Dynoflash) at Vividracing.

The installtion went flawless, you would be surprise on how well everything was installed, no cables hanging, etc.

I am very happy with this SMC kit because unlike my friends alcohol kit mine came witha few extra feet of stainless steel lines.

We only spent about $12 in miscellaneous hardware such as clamp to hold the pump on place, self locking screws to ground the pump ground and some wiring wrap arounds and one foot of fuel line from the pump to the tank.

Please feel free to add any comments, sugestions or whatever you want, I am willing to answer whatever and help you to solve any installation issues.

By the way, have you guys heard of a special lubricant for the pump called Klotz?, it looks like you mix a table spoon of this oil to keep the pump internals happy. This fluid looks red.

Feedback wanted!!

UPDATE:

This system consumes minimal alcohol when using the number #7 nozzle. I have driven 300 miles already since the alcohol was installed and it consumed not even 1/15th of the capacity.

The idlle is perfect and the car runs very smooth all the times. I made some good power and torque as you can see in my signature.

Thanks for the compliments. I actually did not do the installation myself, I helped but I paid a couple of friends of mine that already had the SMC on their cars. One of this guys(my friend Trevor) has his SMC kit for 4 years on his Dodge Stealth R/T twin turbo which by the way runs 11.1@128

As per the tune, it will be done Tomorrow morning at 0900 am at Vividracing, the tuner is Al(Dynoflash).

Good news is that I will get the base dyno with the SMC disconnected, the the smc connected then the SMC connected and tuned. Absolutely DO NOT MISS my dyno thread tomorrow.

The tank is a one gallon tank. I just ordered mine through nolimitmotorsports and I specificaly ordered the Nozzle number #7 on it.

I truly love this kit, it doesn't get any stealthier than this on a 05 Evo, remember, the first 05 SMC kits were horrible looking kits, everything was mounted horizontally on the trunk, look at this:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...=nolimitmotors

Please , compare my installation versus the first 05 SMC kits, mine you can't see it at all. Keep in mind the first 05 SMC kits had a much bigger tank(3 gallons I think).

The tank that I have holds a gallon. I sugest SMC enterprises fabricates a taller tank, perhaps a 1.5 gallon tank. As you can see in the pics I still have plentu of room in top of the tank also sideways.

my .2c

Awesome Carlos!!

It looks very clean and its 100% concealed...way to go!
I can't wait to see your dynos posted tomorrow! Here are my predictions: 305whp/310tq baseline w/o alky and 325 whp/345tq with alky and Al's tune.

I'm still waiting on Nick PD to get an estimate to install his AI kit, but I only have 10 days left here in Maryland before I return to Colorado and he's been very busy lately
call me, call me, call meee!!

Thank you very much indeed. I must add a remark. I remember a few months ago when I was *****ing to Al, Buschur and SMC owner Steve about making a decent looking kit for the 05 Evo 8.

I was eager to buy the SMC kit a long time ago but I honestly thought that the 05 kit was the most anti-cosmethic kit in the market. This is a link to show you one more time how bad the kit looked before:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...&highlight=smc

Now I am back to encourage you 05 Evo 8 Owners that the SMC kit with the one gallon tank can be a beautiful upgrade. I was very, very concern about the alcohol comsunption, I thought that the one gallon tank was not going to last much, I was wrong, I spent a good portion of the day driving the car in town pedal to the floor and the alcohol comsuption was absolutely minimal.. I LOVE THIS KIT!!

I highly suggest you don't buy the ugly 3 gallon tank, it will take a lot of space in your trunk. Trust me, buy the one gallon, it is plenty.

As per the mixture, I finally decided to go 100% denatured. The reason why is because I want the MOST street , reliable daily driven car and sorry guys but not many places sell Methanol when you are traveling outside any big city.

Alcohol you can get it everywhere(I don't care if it cost more) the botton line is that you can run everywhere and buy it everywhere.

Thanks for your feeback and feelfree to ask me for more pictures if you need them.

Carlos

Looks good! I didn't shove the reservoir down like you did because I didn't like how rear sidemarker was pushing against the bottle. You won't need to use a hose attached to a funnel like me.

DO NOT use ANY pump lubricant (Klotz?) with the latest SMC kits. This info comes directly from Steve @ SMC and Al @ DynoFlash. The newer pumps are not affected by fuels.
