Well i must say i have raced a couple Very Fast AutoX tracks and have never bounced off the Rev limiter (mine is 7800) where some friends of mine in their STi's and 5 speed Evo's have hit the Rev many times on the same courses. In Autox you will be playing with different suspension parts anyway to get the car to handle just right. I have never dragged my car so i don't have too much input on that subject

what is it a PITA when u start trapping 111mph?
You didn't find that false information here. No one here has given you a reason to say this:

"evo 8 and 9 do low or mids 12 stock right?"

or this:

"doesnt the mr have a beefier LSD?"

and if you were wondering about the MR drag racing, I would assume you'd go to the Drag Racing forum and read up on all the MRs to see their issues. I have discussed it many, many times in many, many threads why the MR is limited once you reach 111mph. It has been my personal quest to overcome this limitation while trying to hit 11s in an MR with stock cams. You need to go read through all of my Drag Racing threads to get a better understanding of all that.

To have an Evo that runs low or mid 11s, you are going to have to get an RS or GSR, then put on a bigger turbo, so it doesn't matter which year you get.

Well, there's no reason for a 5spd Evo to hit the rev limiter before your 6spd. Your gears are shorter, so you can't go as fast in each gear. The STi's are the opposite. They are also 6spd and have even shorter gearing than our MRs. That is one big problem with the Subies when autocrossing. I had this discussion many times with one of the best drivers in our local Auto-X club who drove a Subie and was also struggling with being between gears. He was always in no-mans land between 1st and 2nd, and 2nd and 3rd.

If you're planning on low 11's consistantly and reving and dumping the clutch a lot I hope you have deep pockets because you're going to be spending serious bank on upgrades and on replacement parts for the stuff that breaks.

Warrtalon... this dude is gonna end up posting a thread about his clutch going out on his MR when he was drag racing....

Maybe an EVO is not for you Djstorm100?
