I agree my car is having serious issues. I brought the car in for low boost and they stated the timing was off by 5 degrees. After resetting the timing to factory spec my car sounds like it has a damn supercharger in it and still doesn't boost past 1.3 bar.

sorry for the thread jack

dirrk, your car is ready. YOu only need to go 600 miles without going over 5k rpm too often. After that point, go buck wild. I didn't change my oil until I was supposed to, which was around 4500 miles...not 1k, not 2k, not 3k...almost 5k like the manual says to do on synthetic oil.

yup i ran both cars slow up to 1K miles, then immediately changed to Royal Purple. I also used Royal Purple Max-Gear oil (75w90 @$10/quart) in the diffs & T/C @ 5K miles & my '03 no longer misses 2nd gear. for the record, the '05 never missed 2nd gear. for the price of 1 can of mitsu diaqueen LSD fluid ($84), i got enuff royal purple max gear oil to do 2 EVO's front to back!!

& just so everyone knows, all stock unflashed EVO fuel cuts are set at 7404 RPM, not 7K, not 7600.

500 miles of easy around town type driving to break in the clutch. The motors break in very quickly so dont' worry to much about that. After that go have fun and drive it like ya stole it. j/k

lol yeah when I first time got my 05 I didnt bring it past 5k for break in but i floored it from 0 to 5k and I couldn't imagine the pull it had and wondered what it would be like to get past the 5k to 7500 but when breakin was finally over and tried it there was not much more pull left in her. Soon your evo will feel slower after a few thousand miles because your use to its power and you'll wanna make her faster.

What? Stock, unflashed Evo fuel cut? Fuel cut has nothing to do with RPM; it is caused by too much airflow. If you're trying to say that the stock rev limiter is at 7400, that's not true either. It's at 7600, which is common knowledge.

Lastly, I hope no one else goes through all that trouble for 1000 miles, because not only is it boring, it's not the proper break-in procedure. You actually NEED to drive it somewhat hard in the first 500 miles, but just not rag it out to redline. After 500-600, it can be thrashed without hesitation (and likely well before then).

I have been driving my car like i would if i never knew of a break-in period. Accelerating hard from time to time We'll see how it goes. I'd like to have it dynoed but the closest all wheel is a couple hours away.
