redlined the ix..

car has 500 miles on it with no shifts over 5k up until now....i was on the way home from class and i just had to...i did a second and third gear pull and omg....i kno this has all been posted before but wow....but i do have one question. i just put in my boost gauge from my old car last night and today full boost was only 14 pounds...and that did not feel like 14 pounds (actually i hope it was cuz if that was 14, i cant wait to see 22)....i have a feeling that gauge isnt reading right...its an autometer gauge...any suggestions..

My 9 was peaking at 17psi, kind of off. After I got it flashed at WORKS it was peaking at 20psi.

Defi gauge

Yeah, you answered your question in your post. "i have a feeling that gauge isnt reading right...its an autometer gauge" Try a different boost tap location.

I have to put my sport gauge pack in mine to see where I'm at. I agree it feels like a hell of alot of power. Note: I added a Buschur TBE w/ no cat and wow what a big difference that made. Many times you'll get a bit more boost due to the loss of restriction in the exhaust. The spec is supposed to be 20.3psi to 5K rpms then drops to 16.1psi to redline.

BTW: I found out my rev limiter is about 7500rpms after putting the exhaust on. heh... Not the 7K rpms the gauge reads.

Yea haha that's me. I'm just not online right now. I got the $$$ bug and sold my Xbox 360 on ebay for $750. Now I have to find a new one at retail LOL! I'm beat I think till Jan. Just let that request ride, I'll accept it when I get back on. Funny that you live in Ft. Lauderdale. I moved back to CT from Miami like a year and a half ago. Wish I was still there.

The rev limiter is 7600 on all USDM Evos. What gauge were you talking about that said 7k was the rev limiter? Were you referring to the tachometer redline? Redline is not the rev limiter.

Honestly, past 5k rpm you should feel *less* g's and torque making it feel slower due to the fact that the stock turbo loses a lot of torque at higher rpm's... you should however feel a lot more torque in the mid-range rpms... 3k ~ 4.5k rpm which is where the turbo will spool and peak at.

Either way, have fun. =]

my IX MR peaks at 1.3 bar so around 18.85 psi. I have about 2800 miles.

I also have a loud whining noise coming from the timing belt area. Don't know what the hell that is all about. Didn't start until the Mitsu techs adjusted my timing and they say the sound is normal.

Yea I know man. The IX brochure says it's 7K redline cause I'm sure they don't want you to get to the limiter. I just didn't know where the limiter was beyond the 7K in the IX. Didnt know if maybe it was different from the VIII.

My IX nor any of the other ones through my shop dont have any whining sound. Also why would they be playing with the timing?
