So I guess you just modify the inputs to the ECU that would affect the injector duty cycle?

Like an AFC does, but with a larger, 3D map (boost vs RPM with a Z axis of correction)?

I found info on the Xede:
http://www.chiptorque.com/105848.php

It looks to be somewhat akin to an AFC with multiple maps that are switched to based on boost pressure (or some other user definable input). Hopefully it also interpolates between the maps. All it does is modify the input MAF signal just like an AFC. It does look like it has a lot of user-definable ways to do this, though.

Timing can also be modified with the xede.

However, just by changing the MAF signal, you will end up changing the timing output of the ECU.

If this works well on the Evo, then I stand by my statement that an AFC should also work quite well on an Evo.

Thanks for all your time and imput.
That sounds about right, IIRC. We owned A Viggen for a couple years, but never tuned it beyone factory spec. 20+ psi is the highest I've heard. It exhibited plenty of torque steer, too.
My beef with that car is that it had a torque limiter (set too low) in 1st & 2nd gears, not to mention 1st gear was incredibly short. Once you got into 3rd gear, though, it was a rocket, and surprised many people. Those front seats were mighty comfy, too.

That's fantastic! Funniest thing I've read all day...

The thing is... you're probably right on target with that comment!

Yeah, looks like an AFC on steroids or a stripped down PMS. What are these units selling for? It outta work on just about anything I would imagine. Not too shabby of a toy I suppose; it's actually kinda neat if you're into the piggy back thing.

No injector drivers because it's faking the ECU airflow signal. Unless it also includes a knock read out somewhere that I missed, then it's probably difficult to tell if the resulting ECU ignition advance is straight from the tables or altered due to knock. Still, not terrible, assuming the cost is inline with an AFC.

It will be priced competitively considering its performance. That is, somewhere between the DSMLink and the Autronic PnP. It's not really fair to compare it to an AFC which offers relatively low resolution, no real logging abilities, limited flexibility, no multiple map storage and oh yeah, no timing control. The next firmware revision of our EVO XEDE will also offer closed-loop boost control. So one would have to compare it to an S-AFC + ITC + AVCR in order to have all the basic bases covered.

Cheers,
Shiv

I'm hesitant to give any personal info since a few of the villagers on this forum may find a way to use it against me

I was only comparing it with the AFC in terms of what it ultimately does for fuel control, which is modify the MAF signal.
