Question Dealership SAYS Downpipe problem!

whenever i went over bumps, cracks, or whatever, i heard squeaking coming from the front and back . i thought it was something in my suspension due to potholes or something so i took it to the dealership to see what was causing the squeaking. i have a works 3" downpipe, works 3" high flow cat, and a rnr 3 " catback. the dealership said that it wasn't my suspension but my downpipe making the noise . he said since i dont have a flex section on the downpipe it moves and causes squeaking. can this be true ? please help me.

is there anything i can do to fix it?

also,

are there any ways to check to see if its actually my suspension thats making the noise or not?

thanks in advance,

albert

Yeah, have you ever seen those commercials, i forget which company it was for, but there is a technician holding onto the bottom of the car looking for the problem while the guy is driving around.. thats one way. Just find a friend of yours who is into cheap thrills.

On a more realistic approach, and using common sense,
1. take off your downpipe and see if it goes away (lightbulb!)

2. Check underneath and see if it is moving or rubbing on anything (undertray, tie bars, frame, etc.)

3. Kartboy stiff exhaust hangers.

The stock downpipe doesn't have a flex section either. If your downpipe uses the stock donut gasket at the O2 housing that is all the flex it needs.

try squirtimg some lube on the hangers. I recommend HHS 2000 by Wurth because not only does it resist water, but it sprays as a liquid and then sets up into a grease so it penetrates into cracks very well.

Grease all your hangars for exhaust like previous post. Make sure all the rubber hangars aren't being stretched. The exhaust hangars should be pretty neutral in the holes. If they are to the sides or stretching it down this could cause squeaks. Check for any interference as previous post also. For suspension if you are still stock I would personnally say it is not them unless there is some misalignment (not wheel alignment) of your suspension arms or something loose. If it persists have the dealer check all tourques on the suspension. I am a Noise and Vibration engineer and this is what I would do. Some squeaks come from weird areas and are difficult to isolate are you sure it is from underneath your car?

Explain Kartboy hangars is the rubber stiffer, do they hang lower, higher, or make the exhaust hang from different locations? Are they solid mounts?

polyurethanes are horrible without proper lube. Go get some lubes for the polyurethane (very thick and sticky lube).
