What really sucks is that the STI is probably outselling the EVO!

I will try to do some research and find us some legitimate statistics!

Best regards,

Has Subaru (i.e. Nakajima) made a plane since WWII? I know you can get a Subaru engine put in a single prop. Anyhow, that '06 front-end is atrocious.

You know what would make me buy an STI? Take the engine from the Tribeca, shove it in the 4dr STI and boost it over 20 PSI :P

If internet dealer response and price offers are any indication, the Evo is out-selling the STI.

I've noticed Subie pushing the STI a lot more in ads. For instance, the one page ad in MotorTrend I've seen in the last 3 issues. There is basically no advertising for the evo that is paid for by Mitsu.

Imagine if you had to sell these Evo's and other Mitsubishi products for a living!

LOL!

They do not make it easy with the lack of advertising across the board, but yes, you are right. No advertising!

through dec 2005, subaru has produced a total of about 100K cars for north america versus 74k for mitsu. it's hard to find public data on any one model in particular, but evos and stis represent only a tiny fraction of sales for these companies.

p.s. for comparison, GM has built almost 4 MILLION cars this year for NA.

here's a table of "light vehicle sales": http://images.wardsauto.com/files/10...ummary0511.xls

subaru has sold about 176K cars this year vs. 115K for mitsu.

evo9's are selling more than STI's since people don't approve of the Alfa Romeo styling OR now having 2 spoilers (yes 2)...the EVO 9 is almost $3k higher than the subie so this year the STI is the better bargain pricewise. it is still an inferior motor to the 4G63 since the rear mounted turbo tends to melt down cylinder 3 when you had power to it...

Twinevo,

In Japan there is a considerable amount of advertising for the Evo IX. I was just there and many car magazines had full page ads on the back cover (outside).

Obviously this won't affect American sales, though. But it seems to me that Americans are more concerned with the stock HP number than anything else. And the STi beats the EVO there.

But hey, I own a IX MR, so you know MY choice.

well i guess it depends on your location. in AZ, all the subaru dealers have plenty of STI's @ MSRP whereas the Mit dealers are marking up the 9's & people are waiting to get one since they are becoming harder to locate in other states. CA has a minimum $5k markup & they are still selling...

what other facts do you want??
