my ticket for "highway racing" cost me 2 grand... but that's before Florida bumped the offense up to a higher level of misdemeanor - now they take you to jail, just like a DUI, and impound your car... it just ain't worth it. (Mine was really pettty bull****e, but that's old news.)

Just don't do it, guys - I got mine for some ******* in a Celica GT that gunned it when I was trying to pass him. (he got pulled over, too) - they never clocked us, they don't need any proof, it's just the cops' word against ours.

Who do you think will win that battle?

****ing Chuck Norris.

In high school, i raced my neon(back when they were cool, wait, they were never cool)and got pulled over. Street racing is for those who ar afraid to race when a stopwatch is involved

I just HATE HATE HATE street racing.
In my country there are no rules regarding street racing,
so people do it everytime. Its a real hazard to drive especially an
evo when others are always poking and pushing.
Just can't go ten minutes without some smarta$$ revving up to
me and honking and flashing their beams.

Sad thing is, there are NO tracks here, yet just in my area I see cars such as:
2004 M3, two Cayenne Turbo, evo 6, evo 8, 2005 lotus elise, twin turbo supra,
skyline R34, rx-7(1999), sti and lots of hondas and other cars.

I am planning on investing in making a track (drag strip at first) myself. People need a place to use their cars potential, they need a track.

Sorry for jacking the thread. needed to vent!

about a month ago, they impounded I think it was like 100 cars over street racing in my area(North Jersey). That night I was on one my bud's case not to go ot that area. He is happy he didn't.

So let me get this straight 30-40k vehicle that you purchased or have a note you pay every month, hundreds to thousands of extra cash invested, nevemind the emotional attachement, to give it up for a thrill? Hmmm, not worth it. It may be worth it for some people and hey, not going to criticize it but not for me.

I get the high beams, the hazards, the rev's all the time. IF I laugh at you, I know I can beat you so it's not worth it, if I shake my head, I know enough to know that you have much more than what I have under my hood to race ya. Rather take it to the track.

BTW, the track is cool, but better not take your daily driver to the track, unless you have the money for repairs in the event something should happen.

You are one of the smartest Evo owners I have met on the forum yet!

Protect yourself and for Pete's sake, take it to the track guys and gals!

Best regards,

Alot of the the guys I keep trying to get to the track talk about how expensive it is and all the ways people wreck their cars there. The sad thing is there are the same guys paying huge tickets & fines, and breaking their cars by running into signs, curbs, other cars, etc. Add to that the cost of the damage to your insurance and the track get cheap fast.

Worst case at the track: You total your car and your ins co won't pay.
Worst case on the street: All that plust fines and jail time...

Easy choice for me - besides at the track you go alot deeper into the car's limits than you can on the street.

That's crazy, but there worse here in so cal. About 2-3months ago cops impounded 180 vehicles at the ontario street runs in so cal. It was on a sunday of all days and normal nobody street races that day. It was all over the news, ill try to find an article on it. What's crazy is, they had like 20 undercover cops handling the sitution and kinda rounded them up on a street I heard (closed off the exists)... now thats crazy. A couple of my friends got caught aswell and got there car impounded, but surprisingly they got there car out... strange.

What would happen to you? It all depends upon where you live, man. I cali- they are tough on you. But take MI for example. 2 of my friends got caught for racing on low-traffic, (but not empty by any means) streets. After they went to court they both had it reduced. One got off with like a tail-lamp burnt out ticket and the other got off with a 5 mph over. Couple hundred buckes between the two. No impounding, no crushing, no jail (although the cop wanted to take them overnight at first since one of them kinda ran from the cops). Its still a bad idea, though. I dont do it.

Wow that sounds alittle extreme
Punishment does not fit the crime
Murders and drug dealers get off with less then that.
