Odd Noise Coming from Car
Odd Noise Coming from Car
Anyone:
I'm hearing a random noise coming near the vents from the front dash. It sounds like marbles are knocking against e/o really fast. It comes and goes. I thought it had something to do with my heater fan, but when I turn off the heater the sound still is persistent. Anyone else heard this noise coming from this same location? Also, would it be covered under the 5 year warranty? Any help would be appreciated. I have a 05 MR, with only 4,000 miles on it by the way.

I don't know what the noise is but it should be covered under warranty if you have no mods or if your dealership is mod friendly. Just give them a call and explain your problem.
My car makes a faint noice that can be heard from inside. Sounds like a series of electrically controlled mechanical movement noises, lasts a second or two. I heard it once with the hood up and it came from the firewall but didnt have enough time to pinpoint it. It sometimes also interferes with the radio signal and I hear over the speakers slightly too.
This would be impossible to demonstrate for it comes and goes quick and unexpectantly. It's like in that Singing Frog cartoon - You know: "Hello my baby, hello my darling, hello my rag-time gal".

^^+1. This might be the vents opening and closing and going from floor circulation to face circulation. THe vents don't go clunk clunk anymore they have nice little motors that close and open the vents.

Everyday i hear a new noise coming from a different location of my car. I read the manual and it clearly states this: Evolution owners will hear knocking/clicking/rattleing in their cars from time to time (some more than others), this is your cars way of telling you all the money you spent is under the hood.
see if this applies, previous post.

Does anyone elses car make this noise? They shouldn't have done anything anywhere near the engine this time around (just replacing the trunk the vandals ruined) so what gives?
One more thing while I'm thinking about it. Is anyone else's clutch easier to hear spinning at idle without the clutch engaged (when the clutch is depressed its much quieter).
I'm trying not to stress, but between my overly sensitive hearing and the fact that this body shop couldn't do anything right the first time my brain is reeling trying to figure out what's going on. Thanks in advance for the help.
I too was having a rattling problem with my car. I've only been able to notice it with the cold weather. I read on a recent thread here about other people having the same problem. Turns out that my after market 3inch (Helix) downpipe was rubbing up against one of the bars. When I took a closer look today, both the downpipe and the bar had a polished look becuase they were rubbing up against one another. I've had this downpipe for a while now and only till recently was i hearing this rattle. It probably has something to do with the cold starting and in turn rougher engine vibrations. Anywho, I took the advice from the thread and just added an extra washer to create more space between the bars(I forget the name of the bars, but they reduce chasis flex) and the downpipe. With that extra washer space, NO RATTLING!
I hope this is of use. Even if you have the stock exhaust, take a peak to see if the downpipe is rubbing up on anything. The hangars are rubber so their could be a chance that although you are rolling with the stock exhaust, that it could be rubbing up on any of those bars
