First oil change?

What prompts a first oil change; is it time or mileage? My EVO VIII has 800 miles and is put away for the winter. Can the original oil be left in or does it need an oil change at 800 miles?

I would change it after a standard amount of time this is just a good practice. IMO

The first chage is the most critical.

IMO 1000-1500 miles for your first oil change. About 3000 for everyone thereafter even though I do mine every 2000 just to be safe

if you drive hard for say city streets every day the stop and go you need to chage your oil every 2500 but if you are a highway driver 3000-3500 will do
