6 months or 3000 miles is pretty standard for your average oil change

in your case I'd change it when you plan to take the car out in the spring...trust me it will be a good idea

fresh clean oil = your friend

Mobil 1 synthetic oil is designed to keep its oil life way past 5000 miles. The first change being the most critical, I disagree, very well built motor, something as minimal as changing it 1000 miles after the guy who changed it at 500 would not make any difference.

very true, but you have an engine break in and you are going to have burs on your inner engine parts that the factory wouldnt take the time to grind off and that grind off during normal operation and are pretty harmless but dont need to build up in your oil and dont need to be spread around thru your internals. even mitsu recommends the break in oil change. its just like anything high end, a motorcycle is a good example, they have a 700 mile break in as well and have you change the oil... its good practice

When i got my new warrantied engine, i replaced the oil at 300 miles and then again at 1300 miles for good measure. Can't afford for my Evo to be in the shop for another 8 weeks with a blown rod again
