some say to to get done in the 800-1200 mile range with a brand new car. Not sure the theory behind this but I would probably do it if your paranoid about those types of things. If not 3000 miles should just fine...make sure to use mobil-1

i did mine at 995 miles. reason being, break in junk. there can be small metal pieces floating around in the oil due to the break in period. i think the best time to do the first oil change would be 1200 miles.
who knows, maybe it really doesnt even matter though. i did it for peace of mind

I would not change the oil prematurely especially since it is the first change. Why, engines are assembled with special assembly lube and this is needed for break in. Ask an engine builder and he will tell you whats best. I changed mine and all my new cars at 5k for the first change. After that, the story changes and the more frequent the better, just try not to waste money by changing it to much. Every 3 will be more than adequate. If you track the car, after every track event.

i scheduled for an oil change at the dealer at my 1k mark. i called up to cancel, and they didn't even book my appointment, basically blew me off. the guy said come back at 3,000 miles, which they recommend. it would have been nice if they said that to begin with.

i think my dash tells me to change it at 3,000 miles for the first service. i'd run out and check it out now, but the cars at home in the driveway.
on a side note though, from what i've researched in the past anyhow, Fully Synthetic oil is good to go until about 15k miles, it's your oil filter that screws you over by not filtering out the junk after x amount of miles.

When breaking in a new engine there will be sheadings you don't want that junk in ur oil running through everything.. Might be small damage but, damage is damage...
I did it my first 700 miles and change my oil every 2500 or 3k because as you can tell the X runs Rich oil seems to be super dark after 3k using syn oil
