EVO stereo issue

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else had this issue. I just had a Kenwood head unit replace my factory Infinity one that came as a part of the premium audio package. I did this so that I can plug my iPod directly to the head unit. But according to the installers, they can't use the factory amplifier with this head unit. So as of right now, my sub is unplugged. They told me that I need to either put in a different amplifier or find the appropriate wiring harness that will allow me to use the factory amp to power the sub. Anyone have a similar problem? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

there are tons of threads on this. yes you can use the stock amp to run everything. either the shop you went to is run by morons or they are just lazy and trying to charge you more money. soundgate makes the wiring harness, or they can just splice the stock harness like my installers did for my alpine headunit.

You need the mitah adapter, just search ebay they have it... it conversts RCA to the round DIN cable for the stock AMP, I did it with my aftermarket HU and it sounds great! The HU as a "loudness" control and the sub bumps pretty good now.

You may feel the new HU louder because the stock amp and speakers work at 6-ohms, and now you're driving them at 4-ohms from your aftermarket HU.

Does that effect the life of the factory amp?

the aftermarker head unit sents the signal through the RCA's if using the Mitah adapter so that shouldn't effect the impedance, its just a signal.
