ARgh Evo IX Windshield chip .... Again?!

Damn I was driving on the highway to get to my parent's house for xmas, and I hear a semi-loud hit on my windshield. The last time I heard that, my old 03 evo had a gigantic chip on the window that spread to a long line.

I got paranoid but didn't see anything. So I thought i was lucky until I looked closer at my windshield the morning after I get back and discover this:

What crappy luck. I thought my 03 rockchip was a 1 in a million, and now this. BTW, i advoid driving behind all trucks, and don't tailgate. This was shot up by a sedan or something, and the hot/cold weather probably expanded the crack. Of all the cars i've driven, both evos got rock chips. What the hell is that...

Any recommendations on what I should do ? Would warranty cover this? The evo is about 5 weeks old, didn't even get my plates yet.

your insurance should cover this free of deductables... altho it looks like you'll have to replace a new wind shield. Insist on original wind shields my mitsu insteam of generic brands.
Sucks tho no matter what...

That sucks. Happened to me going to work a month ago. I'm still waiting for the windshield, the glass guy said that none of the dealers had them and that it would be here on Jan. 11 from Japan.

yeah, that bites. The first time you wash it on a warm day, or the first time you use your heater on a freezing day, that crack is gonna run! Warranty won't cover it, but if you chose to file an insurance claim, it is a claim! I had hail damage, a cracked winshield on one car, and a cracked winshield (cracked windshields in Houston are more the norm) on another, and the insurance company wanted to drop me because of 3 claims within 3 years (Allstate). Was able to work it out with the agent, but it's a trigger that most insurance companies have.

I could replace 3 windshields a year if I changed it out every time mine cracked, part of life in the big city I guess.

That sucks, I hope they have the windshields available the last time I heard there was a waiting time for them.

Warranty definitely wont cover it and some insurance companies cover it on the standard policy and some dont. Youl have to check your agreement to see if its covered. I know some agencies charge a bit more for coverage of windshields, even if you buy the ultra-premium no-fault no-deductible deals. The payment isnt a big deal, but some people just assume its covered and never get the extended windshield policy. Like I said, youl have to check.

once a crack starts, it's too late for any type of repair. When you have money, it's time for a new windshield
