Might be driving in the snow for my FIRST time...
I need your suggestions on this please. I have never driven the Evo (or any other car) in the snow. This new years (probably a day or two before new years actually) I will be driving in the snow (for probably a good 45-60 minutes).
First of all is the Evo an okay car for a beginner to take to the snow?
Do I need to replace anything on the car (i.e. tires)
Will I need to put chains on the car even though its AWD?
Are the brakes good while driving in the snow?
Any kind of advice / tips you can spill my way would be awsome. Im pretty nervous about this and I wouldn't want to take any risks. TIA.

fun snow tire and no on the chains and yes the brakes are fine and just drive the car easy I know its to easy to have fun in the snow and if that is what you want to do make sure you do it in a wide open parking lot

Like the other guys said, the Advans lose all thier traction in the cold and have horrible tread for snow traction. If you are making any significant drive, I would recommend changing the tires or getting a ride. Just do a search on here, and you'll see plenty of crashes because of the advans in the cold weather.

if you dont have the money for snow tires youre sure a sh*t not going to have the money to repair your evo when you wreck it. new years, evo, first time driving in the snow, no snow tires.... sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. take a cab
I run my advan's in the snow, but I don't recommend anyone else do it. I've been driving in snow for 10 years so I'm a little used to it. I lived in the Mountains and used to drive my 87 camaro in the snow like it was cool. I also had a 96 Camaro, 95 supercharged T-bird, um....I think that's it for all of my RWD cars.
I basically rule =)
