Don't park the car in gear only...

Funny thing I noticed,

when I am parked on a hill and put the car in gear so that it doesn't roll back, it still does. Not freely but it jerks back a little by little. Seems the gears can't hold the cars weight. Have to avoid putting it in gear without the park break. Thought I would share.

Why would you ever do that anyway? There's no reason not to set the parking brake.

No I always use the park brake, but there are some old time drivers who just leave it in gear....so thought Id inform them if any.

also, turn you wheel to the curb so if it rolls, it rolls into the curb. I don't gear it because I sometimes use my turbo timer if I've been driving super hard. You can imagine what happens if you leave it in gear with the TT on...

There is a reason if the brakes are hot and you don't want your pads to stick or transfer material to the rotors .

I also don't put mine in gear, because I keep the clutch-start switch disconnected, which means I crank up the car without touching the clutch pedal.

Yes, after some prolonged racing, but we're talking about parking on the street under normal daily driving circumstances.

I've noticed the same thing, if I park on my driveway to wash the car (it's steep)...it'll creep back with it in 1st gear if the parking brake is not engaged.

Can I have that disconnected and put an Auto start on?

Yes, but most shops will not do it if you have a 5 speed. Just think if you left it in gear on accident and started it, you could run somebody over.

wheels facing the curb is always a good idea. I parked on snow on a hill once and when I walked away I looked back the car was going down the hill even though the wheels weren't turning.

i hate it after a service person drive your car, they park the car in gear...I've stalled the car at least 3 times b/c I always park my car in Neutral...after I stall, I want to shot somebody b/c it's such a violent jerk.

It's not that the gears can't hold the car's weight, it is the fact that there is insufficient compression in the evo to keep the car from turning the engine over. this is especially bad if you park in first gear on an uphill and the engine turns backward.
