Alarm for Evo

Hey all,

Was wondering if you guys knew anything about car alarms and had any recommendations? I'm looking into it for my new Blue By You Evo which I picked up this weekend.

Anyway, I don't really need fancy schmancy remote start or anything like that, but it should be something with a backup battery in case the main one gets chopped. Any ideas?

I'm looking into getting a viper responder or hornet 554t. they are 2-way alarms, which alert you if the alarm is being triggered. these systems tend to be expensive, tricky to install, and incorporate remote start and such... but on the plus side, you can usually get them to function as a turbo timer.

other than that, sticking with a DEI system is a good bet. go to a reputable alarm shop and have them help you out.. not b/c you cant do it, but b/c if anybody's gonna tear up your interior, you want it to be a shop with a garauntee.

Yeah, I was thinking a two-way alarm would be a good way to go too. Aren't most of those in the $400-$500 range though? Didn't know you could get them to work like a turbo timer... so you can keep your car running w/o the key in it? That would kinda subsidize my costs (or at least justify an expensive system). I've been looking around the net but there really haven't been any comprehensive alarm review sites which actually give useful information, so I'll just have to rely on you guys' recommendations.

most of them will work that way.. worst case, you can turn the car off and immediately restart it and let it run for like 5 min w/o the key.
