Did Mits. save weight when they painted
Hello,
Just wanted to know if mits painted these cars with thin paint to save weight. My car has 600 miles on it. Directly where the rear door meets the rear wheel well there are chips out of the paint already. My guess is they all do because these tires really throw up the crap. You can hear it in the wheel wells.
Any feedback.
Are yours the same way.
Check it out.

Thank you! Someone else noticed. My friend is a painter at an auto body place, and he has taught me the differences between a good and bad paint job. From the looks of it, the paint on my OZ is better than that on the EVO. If anyone gets a chance to see a red EVO, look down the side of the car. You can see the orange peel in the paint. (dimply, uneven appearence) I was rather upset to see that on a new car. I was waiting for someone to complain about this........
Well, i don't have an EVO but my OZ Rally seems to have the same problem, it looks like the layer of paint on it is really thin so every little rock that hits the car on the road makes a huge chip.
My hood looks horrible already.

Try some Clear Armor. It is a company that makes clear plastic type (the plastic is flexible like saran wrap, and they use heat guns to apply it with no bubbles) covers for your front end to help with rock chips etc. it is only visible up close. it is a little bit pricey, but for some, it may be worth. I think most kits run around $1000. Don't know if they have a website, i will look into it.

I think it has to do with the paint being used in Japan. It seems as if most japanese direct cars have this problem. I am also a member of a 350Z board and they have the same problem. They discoverd that they use different paint then we use here in the good old USA. The paint is actually softer!! I dont remeber exactly what was different but will try to find out!!
3M makes a clear film that you should try to apply in stone prone areas.

Maybe
need to source paints from Dupoint? Mine is holding up pretty well. I'm being really careful until 60 days from FEB. when the car was painted. I know subaru has crap paint also but people say mitsubishi is worst. They really should put an extra layer of clear coat on their high end cars. Mudflaps is a great idea. I wonder when they will bring over the ralliart mudflap for our cars?
Allroad Joel, what color is your car?

So how's the color Blue By You quality-wise compared to Apex Silver? I have to choose between BYU and Apex Silver, since the BYU Evo is coming earlier than the Apex Silver, both no sunroof, I would like to know the quality of the BYU or the Apex Silver, so which one is better?
My red evo with 700 miles has the exact same chips, on the little trim behind the rear door and in front of the rear wheel. They are pretty bad, I am not pleased with that. If it gets bad I may go ***** and have them fix it. I bought a wrap on my warrenty and I believe it covers paint.
Also i forgot to ask. Are you having this chiping problm on the nose, beacuse if this a whole car problem i might have to get the front end cover for the car cus persoanlly i will hate it if the car gets all scratched up

They go up along the side of where the door meets the back fender. It looks like it was poorly painted. Anybodyelse notice this?
