Only when it's wet out or snowing. I like to have fun with my evo, not just on the straight line. I find it's boring. Drifting in a awd is some what boring, it's just too easy. Not as challenging as the FR cars.

Drifting is anytime you are sideways......but an EVO isn't a drift machine......it has too much traction for that.....If you actually go to a real drifting event.....you would see that it would be next to impossible to compete in an EVO.
That being said I think the emphasis of this thread was centered on whipping sh!tties in and sliding your evo not specifically drifting. I have many in car videos from high speed events where the car goes into an oversteer condition and I stay in the throttle until I'm thru the corner. Thats sliding but basically the same thing as drifting.
I really love my EVO today.

I tried drifting on a wet skid pad at a BMW club advanced driving skills school. I put the almost bald Advans on the rear with newer Advans up front and inflated the rears to about 8 lbs more than the front (45 vs 38). I could easily induce oversteer just by lifting throttle gently in second gear at about 35mph, but how on earth do you keep the slide going? As soon as you put the throttle back on the front wheels start to pull the car straight. And if you just hold neutral throttle you can't maintain the slide either, because the rears suddenly gain traction and you shoot towards the outside. And there isn't enough power in a stock Evo to actually keep the rear wheels spinning even in 2nd gear.
The most I could do is be at about 40 degrees for halfway around the skidpad. Didn't seem theoretically possible to go all the way around. What am I doing wrong? By the way, two instructors tried to drift my car around the skid pad and they couldn't go more than halfway around either.
Also, I would note that at least one of the videos here showing an Evo being drifted in a tight parking lot (gulp!) showed that it spun the rear tires for almost two seconds before it even started moving (handbrake?). What the hell kind of setup was that?
Would love to know the secret.
