exhaust experience

For test pipe, high flow cat owners.

What did you feel after the cat delete/HF cat?

Turbo spooling earlier or later
More torque or less torque
Better or worst off boost performance
better or worst Off the line performance, like a calm launch at 1000rpm
etc...

Post your impressions

RMR turbo back, cat delete. All around increase in all the above. Less restriction = More of the above! (what you listed)

The first mod i did was a Full custom 3". I knew it was working when my buddy driving behind me told me i blew a sweet fire ball! Now that i have my car tuned, i don't think it happens as often, but my car is for sure more responsive.

from my interogation of experts it seems catless adds 12-15whp as compared to high flow cat.

good gains in the 10whp range IF your tuned / flashed or whatever. You wont see that gain just slapping them on a stock car.

I would suggest a HFC vs. catless. Sure you lose 5 or 6 HP but chances of running into problems with the law are less and theres that whole environment / greenhouse effect thing.

It's more high-end raspy - not as desirable as far as tone. And you will smell if driving long distances

So how much WHP am I expecting from a bone stock car with a full 3" catback exhaust, downpipe, High Flow cat and a drop in filter with no flash done? I'm looking to make 350WHP with this car. Just curiouse what's the number are by just adding those parts mentioned.

catless here.... better spool, more torque, better off boost driveablility, and the biggest difference I felt was in the calm 1000 rpm launch. It used to fall flat on it's face every time with the cat installed, just figured that's how the car drove. But once the cat was off, it actually has a quite a bit more low end grunt and doesn't bog like it did.

10 whp. I dynoed at that amount over a stock Evo IX on the same day at Vishnu. After the tune there was a 20 whp difference of a stock car and mine with TBE.

Vendors might state otherwise but I have the dynos to prove my personal results, Vishnus 500 and 501st tunes for reference.

VIII's are getting a wee bit more power though it seems when adding a TBE vs. stock so I would venture a guess at 15 awhp.

I saw an increase in all of those areas. I think I had the fireball think going too. Has gone away since adding parts to match the settings on my s-afc II. It was set up for a bigger intercooler and bigger/shorter intake plumbing, which I did not have when I got the exhaust and s-afc.
