My NC/FL trip
Well I got back in town a little after 8pm last night. For those of you that don't know about my trip I went to Orlando for vacation with a side trip to US129 in North Carolina.
Fist a little overview of the begining of my trip, I didn't even hit Indiana and I was lost because the city planners of south Chicago decided to f everything up on the I-80/I-294 interchange, so somehow I ended up in Cincy, OH but all for the better because I saw this:
First one I have ever seen on the road.
Next after the rolling hills of KY and TN I found my way onto US129 at about 7pm (once again Killboy, my phone had no service after I called you) So I take the Deals Gap way to Robbinsville, NC and the first part of the road is no problem and my hopes of running on the road begin to bring on bordem. Then I see this yellow and white sign (wish I took a picture) saying "Trucks use alternate route, severe switchbacks for 11 miles" and I thought to myself "How bad could they possibly be?" Well let me tell you all this road is scary fun for it being my first time on the dragon and it being pitch black out, very intimidating. After who knows how long on this road I finally get to my hotel and bunker down for the night.
Next morning I can't wait to leave and try the road a few more times in daylight so Im out of the hotel at 6am and walk outside and see some of the greatest scenery, nice low level foothills and the air seemed better. After breakfest I head back to the dragon. Let the pictures begin:
Well this does it for now, I have to resize the rest of the pictures and Ill be sure to post them up asap.
Someone has to coordinate a Evo type meeting out there, the road is that fun to drive.

That about does it for the dragon pictures, sorry if there isn't a lot of them the drving and trying to stay on the road was a project in it self but when I go back down there this summer I will take a lot more.
I did also drive on the Cherohala skyway yesterday but the weather wasn't very nice and there was very dense fog but here are some of the pics I did end up getting:

There is a lotus dealer here in Durham, NC, right near where I go to school, they are all over the road around here. I talked to a guy with an orange one last spring. I have lived in NC all my life and never drove the Tail of the Dragon, and now that my Cobra is sold, I don't have the car to do it.
Deals gap is mostly 75% for motorcycles when its riding season that is, here are a few websites with some pretty nice pictures, you have to do some digging for the good ones, but its worth it:
www.dealsgap.com (has camera real time so you can see whats happening right now)
www.dragonslayerphotos.com
My mom went out there and brought me back a business card (had website on it so she didnt foget what it was so i could look at soem pitures) and a t-shirt with all the stuff on it, the first thing i thought of with all the widny roads was an EVO meet out there would rule.
Mike- Glad to see that you made it and had fun, i will PM you when i get closer to the install of the stuff we talked out. Looked like a fun time

The only thing that I didn't like was the 30MPH speed limit sign.......I would definately get a ticket on that stretch of road.....that or be completely frustrated with the traffic.
Sounded like a good drive.
I went to GA last May for a three day weekday. I drove the Cherohala
Skyway and tail of the dragon. The roads was amazing. Too bad that I got stuck behind slow moving vehicle too many times at the tail. Overall it was well worth the trip. Looking forward to go back there again.

There was an EVO meeting back in late Oct. at the Dragon. It was posted on the SE forums on here awhile back. I believe the plan is to do another one this year around the same time.
