i talked to a guy in wisconsin dells and he was driving a white STi w/ the gold rims (very sharp BTW), and he said his brother has an EVO and he was like the modding potential is a lot higher in the EVO compared to the STi, he knew of a few that they modded, and long story short the engines couldn;t take it, and they had to do some work on them to get them fixed, compared to teh 4G63 which has been around awhile, if you don't plan on doing to heavy of mods i would go with an Sti or an EVO they are a horse a piece in my mind when it comes to slight modifications thats my $.02

I had the same decision to make, I went with an EVO.

STI colors totally suck IMO. There are tons over other reasons for EVO and tons fo reasons for STI as well...

when push came to shove I didn't want another silver or blue STI.... there just aren't enough black ones, and the white one just looks queer to me.

driving the STI is very fun, and the interior is superior without modding, unless you have a leather interior evo like I have. My leather >>> STI INTERIOR.

The EVO is a better race car. The STI is a better street car.

You make the choice.

which is why I bought my STi

I loved the looks of the Evo, but the interior felt " Honda Civic-ish" no offence to any of the Evo drivers

I felt if I had to sit in the car all day, might as well be to my liking .. again, I was SECONDS away from buying an Evo, but backed out at the last moment

You chose the heaviest, most top heavy Evo to test drive, the SSL optioned car. That was a mistake. Test drive an MR or an RS. On second thought, I recommend that you do not test drive the RS because I think you're too soft. Above all, the best advice you could take is not to ask others what they think you should get. No one knows you best like YOU. Do the research, but please don't ask something like, "What do you think I should do, guys?" Research, research, research! Find out what YOU like. We are not you to tell yourself what to do.

I'm in a bad mood.

I bought the car for modded performance, as neither one of these cars is a luxury vehicle. Go to any Evo vs STi shootout, there will be 10 fast Evos for every one fast STi, and the fast Sti will have no original parts left in the engine bay. As for weight the difference between SSL and an MR is practically negligible.

Haha, too soft I wouldn't say. Just comparing the two cars. I know I'll know which car is better for me more than anyone else, but I like hearing the opinions of others on the two vehicles. I was thinking if I did do modding, I would only do like a chip and exhaust maybe downpipe and a few other things.

Negligible? I disagree. As if the steel roof isn't enough, lets place a 50-plus pound sunroof on top and really mess with the roll center of gravity.

I still think you're too soft, Mr. Audi TT owner. And if you really want to compare the two cars, then test ALL current Evolutions. You've already tested the heaviest one, now test drive the RS, IX (sans SSL), and MR. I'm curious to know how long you've had this idea to buy an Evo.
