What is the major diff in the turbo on a 03 to a 05 besides the 10.5 hotside?

 

i beleave the hotside. 03 is 9.8 and 05 is 10.5. could be more then just this but this is all i no of.

You are correct it's only the hot side. Now the IX turbo has a different compressor cover as well as the 10.5 hotside and a single flapper wastegate design instead of the double one in theolder models.

 

now I thought that the 05 mr 10.5 hotside had a singal flapper

 

to elaborate, isnt it a 10.5cm3 sizing difference over the 9.8?

And also the 05 turbo has a single flapper wastegate opposed to the dual flapper of the 03, which means the port cover for the wastegate is operated by one valve covering a split port instead of a dual flapper covering the split.

 

What is the hp diff? cause I was thinking of just getting a 05 turbo and putting it on my car but if it is not going to make a diff. then I will just get the 10.5 hotside and do that.

 

i suggest you,buy just the hotside 10.5...

 

get the 10.5 hotside its only $250 i think. its agreat mod just a bit though to install.
