Evo barely idles and has low battery voltage. Any ideas?

About 5 months ago I put some Lineage grounding wires on my Evo and Nology Plug wires(were removed due to Dynoflash). A month later my battery voltage was getting low, like 11.0 volts and some times lower, then the charging system light came on, so my alternator was out. So I traded the core and $ for a new one and installed it but the bolt that goes to the bracket did not line up so I left it off and let the belt hold on to it. It still only had 13.7-13.8 volts so I tried a new battery with no luck. Right now it barely idles, wont start unless I give it gas, and I have to heel-toe the gas and brake to keep it running while backing up and sitting still until the car warms up. Ive had the cams way before this started happening so I dont think they are the problem.

Check your grounding strap or any ground wires. If your belt isn't tight on your alternator it might not make enough voltage. Why wouldn't the alternator bolt fit? If it didn't you might have the wrong alternator, hence wrong pulley and low voltage or not enough to fire spark plugs.

The pulley that is on the new one came off the old alternator. The bolt is maybe 1/2 in. off.

13.7-13.8v is good, if it holds that with a load then there is no problem with your charging circuit (battery, etc). I would recommend that you install your alternator "properly" then go from there.

I had the same problem and just adjusted the idle screw on the intake mani and wah-la, works perfect. My Rpm's are a little on the high side now, but IMO, that's better than stalling at EVERY stop sign/light.
