My Evo book, tells me to put 98 octane fuel minimum!
It might be calculated different though... I dont know!
Can anybody tell me what are the differences... becouse it might help me to do the reflash!!!!
Im gonna come to Las Vegas in 2 weeks!

Just for the info, not to hate on the ix because it is a great car.Btw, usa 93 octane is like european 98.
Ok ... now im in trouble!
Is this for real?
The only info i get about mods for my car is from you guys!
Will i have a problem with tuning my evo build for europe???

Great question. Did the USDM finally get a cool part (or rather lack thereof) that Europe and Japan did not.

If I remember correctly, the IX turbo issue concerns only GT version. I'm not 100% sure tho. But if it breaks, it's good reason to upgrade

No I think ron fuel rating is dfferent to the octane rating in the states. Search and you will find.

Yes magnesium turbos are blowing up, apparently if boosted consistently above 1.5bar.

98RON is more or less 93 Octane. Octane = (RON + MON)/2

This is from a EVO IX brochure:

"On the GT, the turbocharger compressor
wheel uses magnesium alloy instead of
aluminum alloy while the turbine wheel
uses a titanium-aluminum alloy (a
factory-fitted option on the GSR). The
resultant decrease in rotational inertia
brings a dramatic improvement in
supercharging response and reduction
in turbo lag."

So, unless you specified the option, the GSR does not come
with Mg alloy.
