That depends on the manufacturer and model of the wheel.

before anyone else kills ya, if you do a search on here for rim sizing... there are quite a few threads on what rim sizes fit with the offset, and another thread with the actual rim itself.... go look there first...

Why the hell would you go an inch shorter in width on your wheels? Those don't look like ultra expensive wheels, if you are set on them at least get 18x8.

noooo, you serious?

in _theory_ the width of the tyre tread is the size of the tyre in mm so a 235 tyre would be 235/25.4 = 9.25" and so on. Now your wheel will be slightly different to this and the _actual_ size of the tyre will be a little different to this with some makes a little bigger/smaller than others. In any case, you should not run the wheels wider than the tyre (that's if you can actually fit the thing to the wheel in the first place).

For example, http://www.yokohamatire.com/pdf/ADVANNeovaBulletin.pdf yoko would say that you can fit anything from 8.0-9.5" for 235 wide AD07 and http://www.potenza.jp/re050/size.html where bridgestone would tell you that the Re050 235/45/17 will fit anything from 7.5-9". So the quick answer would be that 8" or 8.5" would fit most makes and models while 7.5 or 9.5 you'll need to look at what the tyre manufacturer recommends. [I'm assuming that you'll be running 235 btw].

hope this helps...
