What kind of tire are you looking for? All Season or Summer? Tirerack has 9 tires under $100 for the Evo. My next tire for everyday driving is going to be the Avon Tech M500 AS which is $110 per tire.

i have wanli pro's on my car, very very inexpensive, seem to be wearing ok, about 7k miles on them and still over 80% tread w/ occassional spirited driving. they make a lot of noise in hard cornering though. i'm a student and was in a tight spot w/ bald tires, i dunno if i'd reccomend them, but they are working fine. Got them for like 300 on ebay lol, bring on the flames.

40K miles on any set of tires that fit the Evo seems like a stretch

Honestly speaking, if not every part on the Evo is top of the line, but most of them are, you should consider yourself to be spending around anywhere from $130 - $300 for 1 good tire. Of course you need to replace all 4 of them. When it comes to tires, my suggestion is do not go with some cheap ones or you will be paying a lot more than you are for the tires.

It is one of the top of the line cars and you should be considering it.

you can get a set of relatively new stock yokohamas from people on this board for $400. IMO they are the best tires with the stock rim.

He never said "performance tires" or "most grip". He said daily driving tires that get good wear and cheap, that's it. What's with all this "you drive an Evo therefore you need race tires crap"?

Kumho ASX fits the bill, stock Yoko Advans do not. I believe there's also been a good response to some Avon tires. You'll have to search for which kind.

The Kumho's and Sumitomo's are decent for the price. Not great handlers, but for the price they are good tires.

From my experience with an S4, c43,m3, FFR Cobra, Viggen, and a Type R, no perormance rated tire when used for what its made for will last much past 20k if you are lucky. It matters how you drive the car and what you expect it to do. If you bought a EVO I am guessing you like the performance or you would have bought a standard 130hp Lancer.

IMHO I never had any issues with Kumho's. They have good tread wear and are above average handling wise for the money you spend. I bought 265/35/18's for the rear my M3 and they were about $155 a tire.

Go to www.tirerack.com and compare and price them out...Discount Tire will match or beat any deal Tire Rack has btw...

The Evo is a performance car. If you don't really care about performance you wouldn't buy one in the first place right? I feel that it deserves a quality tire.
