You don't have to spend a bunch of money to get a quality tire. I run all season Continentals everyday and then have r-comps for when I am using my car for fun. No reason to spend $200 per tire on tires that drive back and forth to work everyday imoh.

Kuhmo ECSTA ASX for the winter - 91 ea
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=5

So far this winter I have driven in a few days of back roads and 12 inches of snow. Tires worked great, predictable handling in the bad stuff.

Sumitomo HTR ZII for the summer - 85 ea
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=4

Of course they are not as sticky as the Yokos but they are good for the price. I cut a 12.8 on the Sumitomos in somewhat cool weather, and they stuck just fine. And I have pushed the tires, they talk more but they hold to the road once broken in.

Bzzzzz...wrong. The Kumho ASX is a quality tire, but I drive to work everyday on streets not a race track. I use my super stick Toyo RA1's on the track. You don't need summer performance tires...especially in January.

BFG G-Force Sport....I mean, for a tire thats cheap....its decent. However, as surprising as it is, the Kumho Ecsta MX is fantastic for the price.

didn't read anything past page 1 but maybe if you took a Mgr or salesperson from a wheel/tire place to a "special" bar...... you know the ones that accept dollar bills, you can get good prices. I have a friend almost like a brother that is in the business and there are several tire choices especially for 17" that are about 100 mounted and balanced....

Just start networking, theres many deals out there.

kumho ecsta asx - 91/piece

you can't beat them for price or value. the tire rack did a 4 all season tire comparison and they had the second highest overall score (and just barely second). they have good grip in all conditions, INFINITELY better in cold weather (stock advans = accident, literally), and are quieter than stock.

kumho =

I've had Contis and Kumhos both and can't really tell that much difference in normal driving. Neither is as good as the stock Yokos for handling, but most people don't drive their car at that level on a daily basis anyway.

i just got some falken fk-451 from direct tire
http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...%2FPerformance

stock size 235/45/17. couldnt be happier with them. not as good as the advan in the dry but close, and far superior in the wet. much quieter than stock but slightly softer ride

hankook ventus are under 100 a piece...probably like 80? Honestly I do not need to have super grip or excellent performance when driving around on the street; only on the track later on. ( I will get high performance tires for the track only) I totally understand how others would want a high performance tire for street use as well; however for me I'm cool w/ my 268.00 mounted/balanced street tire package. : ) I've heard great things about kumho ecsta asx; they are about 100 each if I remember correctly?

This is where I get my Autocross tires and they have good cheap shipping, road hazard, and other options. I dont think I've found too many places with better service or price.
