hrm.. replaced seats and clusters screams stolen car to me... I don't know what you can do about getting the dealer to take the car back.. But it seems to me that you should just put your evo dreams on hold until you make more $$$... buying a car like the evo used is just asking for problems...

I did notice though when I was installing my boost guage the previous owner well one of the previous owners ( there was 2 owners before me ) had left some tubing from a guage installe probably boost...

I think you have only 72 hours to re-neg on a deal. They have to take it back if it is in the 3 days after you bought it. I am not sure what you do now, good luck. might need an attourney on this one, as you tried to get it in the shop, but they were booked up.

I think that's how it is with most new cars, not sure about used ones.

As far as the car this is somewhat within expectation from an used Evo, especially an 05 that has over 40K miles on it, god knows how much abuse it has seen from the previous owner. Just do what you can to fix it since the good thing is it's still under waranty, unless you have a lot money lying around I won't mod it in anyway, Mitsu dealers would use anything as an excuse to void your waranty. And then maybe sell the car off once the waranty does run out and look for another ride...

So they never put in the Racaro's back in? they put Ralliart's in in place of them?? Man if thats the case, I'd make the dealership at least hook you up with the right parts to make the car normal. Its like downgraded!!

Im not guessing the car was stolen, just there buddy had a ralliart and wanted the seats so they traded them and took it to a Nissan dealership which they'd have a hard time noticing the difference. Thats pretty gay but I think now that its over 2 weeks your kinda up $hits creek with the car. Like they've said, get the parts fixed through your warranty DONT MOD IT at least til your car is out of warranty which wont be to much longer anyways.

Keep us posted on your findings!

Unfortunately whenever you buy something used you always run the risk of someone running it into the ground. You got a great deal on it so at least you could use the money you saved to fix it! I hope everything works out for you

I would do a Carfax report to see if that car was a theft recovery, its strange that all those parts were replaced with OZ stuff; I dont think anybody would replace all those things with downgraded parts unless it was a theft recovery. If it was a theft recovery you might have the basis for recision of your contract if it wasnt disclosed when you bought the car (although this will depend on the laws for your state). Good luck

Didn't bother me much except for the clusted had to be changed when possible. So about three days later i start having some engine trouble (i didnt even drive it hard, kept it under 5k rpms), but couldn't get my car into the the dealer for 2 weeks, they were booked. i finally got it in (to a mitsu dealer), they keep the car for a week cause they start finding different problems with it. this weekend the tech tells me they have to rebuild the turbo, which will take another week or so, and theres a few other things that would prob. have to be replaced in the near future. He tells me that i might be better off unwhinding out of this deal. I want an evo no doubt about it, its kinda hard to find one within my price range around here. but at the same time i don't want to be burried in this car and have more problems in the future. I know most of the stuff will be covered under warranty right now, but what about in the long run?? I guess i'm just wanting to know what some of you guys would do in my case. i need to get this resolved asap, and who better to ask than you guys i thought.

oh yeah, and i called the dealer and they told me "theres no way i can unwhind." if you guys have any info on this, or what i can do aswell it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks A lot in advance!!!

that car sounds like a lemon
get out of that car and get to work (job)
all you need is 4k more and get yourself into a new evo 9

The fact that it does not have the original, factory gauge cluster should be enough for you to get out of the deal with the Nissan dealer and make them buy the car back. That's almost always a sure sign of odometer tampering when the guage cluster is changed on a car. Unless the dealership can show you documention on the actual milage on the car and WHY the gauge cluster was replaced, it should be considered a "True Mileage Unkown" title car, which would seriously affect the resale value of this car in a negative way.

start by doing a car-fax on it, to find out if it is stolen, and what else you can find out about it.

Is that a typo on the mileage? An 05 with 41,000 miles on it. That is a lot of mileage. Hypothetical situation: The previous owner had it for one year, that is an average of 112 miles a day, everyday for a whole year. Sorry to say I would not have bought that car with those miles and the fact it wasn't fully equipped with all that the Evo comes with.
