My '96 Eclipse: Springs or RMDSM lip???

I have about 200 bucks to play with right now...

I was really leaning towards the rmdsm lip, but springs wouldnt be bad at all either. The only problem I see in getting springs is that they are the only thing I can afford at the moment/ I wouldnt be able to get shocks or struts. I want to do the suspension right the first time, and get coilovers, but thats down the road. Do you think an RMDSM lip would be better than springs? Considering that my car does need dropped, yet I want to do it right and not have to blow struts and mess up other things, even though it would look much better...

Thanks for the help!

Heres my car btw...

Heres the lip...

How long before you can afford coilovers? I would hate to see someone buy something twice (suspension). My opinion... skip the lip and put that $200 towards the coilovers. I've got some Teins on mine.

Nice looking car... clean. Is it turbo? Mine is sitting the winter out and I miss it. There's a pic in my sig.

Nice gst bro...

Actually, Im 420a....Thanks for the comment! 96 2ga to 99 2gb conversion and all. Just threw in some Corbeau A4 seats a couple months ago. Luckily my dad is a painter so I got it painted for free from him, and got a deal on the rims and the cf hood. Just going for looks as of now until I get my evo *which isn't going to be possible for a few years*

It would probably take me a few months to save up for coilovers. Im 16 and working at a restaurant as a bus boy lol. I have to pay for gas, insurance, and my cell phone, so this 200 bucks right now is somewhat of a rarety lol.

Go with the lip, and save up for some real coilovers. I have the carbon fiber version of that lip on my car, and it looks great.

Cool, man. I hear you... I had my eclipse ~ 75% built up when I was in college (thank god for high paying interneships!). I did the wheels/ tire/ FM/ brake upgrade, and suspension after I graduated and got a 'real' job.
I still say just keep that $200 and save for the c/overs. You can get the Tein basics for $650-700. Try MachIII.net. That's where I got mine; it was the cheapest place I found and the service was awesome. You're almost 1/3 there already. Car looks good... you should AutoX it.

No offense to you or anything, but there are hundreds of eclipse forums out there. And this is an Evo forum and there is even an other cars forum on this very site.

Sorry, this is Evo General. You have no reason to ask this question here, especially on a non-turbo Eclipse. Eww....

Welcome to Evo General

1. Putting lowering springs on a DSM with factory struts is a bad idea.
2. Putting a lip on a daily driven DSM that is lowered is a risky idea. Hopefully it is something
you won't mind replacing if/when you lose it.
3. There is an Other Cars section.

Nothing wrong with that. I didn't get my Evo until the age of 29, but I did start off with a used 1g that was boosted and easily went low 12s. A 2g non-turbo is just a money pit with nothing to show for it after spending the money. It's ok if you just want to look fast while not being fast. Anyway, there's tons of Eclipse forums where you could get help. Evo General is only for Evos...
