Dude, that's funny that you mention it. After taking it out on the snow I went out for dinner... and the left side of the car was vibrating like hell. It scared the crap out of me... I thought I knocked it out of alignment or something worse. But on the way back home it was fine. ... whew...

I'm actually in the Boston area right now at my parent's place for a mini-vacation. Yeah I heard it was all rain down there, but they got about 6 inches of snow up here.

Coming from RWD to my EVO I read all the hype about how dangerous advans were, but unless you're trying to slide they are fine in going from point A to point B. With a little caution, it's no big deal driving with them on. Stopping and turning DOES require more time, but it's not unlikes anything else with wide tires, and even driving with advans on in the snow it's quite simple compared to the RWD car I used to drive.

I always thought that these evo's would mke great winters cars due to the AWD but you guys are sayiung that the width of the 17's make them not perform as well as they could?

No... I think you missed something. The Advans that come with the car are high performance summer tires. The compound that makes up rubber in the tires is only designed for warm weather. In warm weather they stick the road very well... they are excellent tires. In the cold weather, the tires get really hard and loose their traction. Even without snow or ice... you are in danger of sliding on these tires. If you live in an area where it gets below freezing... you shouldn't be driving around with these tires in the winter. (I got caught in snow before my all-seasons arived... and I literally got stuck going up a small hill... I just couldn't keep traction... even going very slow).

If you get some decent winter/all-season tires... EVOs are amazing in the snow. They might slide a bit (everything slides in the snow and ice... except maybe chains or studs) but you can control the sliding very easily. I'd say the EVO is the best handling car I've ever driven in snow. It's great.
