Evo Trade-in Question
Evo Trade-in Question
Okay, I've got a 2003 Evo VIII with 21,700 miles on the odo. It's all stock except it has Sparco Evo racing shells in it.
Looking to trade in on a 2006 Evo IX RS. I'd want to swap the seats out of the RS into my VIII so the dealer would have a trade-in with "normal" seats in it. Plus I want to keep my Sparcos. That's not too weird is it? It's a 15 minute job, and the car they'd take in trade would end up with nice brand new seats.
I've checked KBB, and the trade-in value is $21,475 which seems about right. But I'm wondering if the seat-swap thing will make the dealer freak out.
Dealers are weird.

Problem is, the seats won't match, so they'll have a VIII with IX seats....
I would use NADA for values. It's more accurate, and it's the book that the bank uses, though lately I see that KBB has been a little bit closer to normal, prior they were HEAVILY inflated.

OR... you could find someone willing to trade you their EVO VIII seats for the Sparco... then trade again for the IX seat when you get them...
That would give the dealer VIII seats without knowing they were ever there... you keep the Sparco... and a nice deed would get new 9 seats...
Too bad you are not in Ohio, or I would consider volunteering!!!

Why would a dealer not want a used car that has brand new seats in it?
The only way you are going to know is if you go and ask. I've done all sorts of deals that required swapping, wheels, lifts, aftermarket stereos and other accessories. Its just up to the people that are working the deal. You'll probably have to pay for the labor for their shop to do it.

Thanks for the replies. I know the seats won't "match", and it seems like getting dealers to do something a little different makes them very uncomfortable. I would think most people would rather have new IX seats in an VIII, the IX seats looked nicer to me, and a lot of people don't like the blue in the VIII seats.

Thanks for the idea!
I think the new IX seats look nicer than the old VIII seats, and they are monochromatic, so no more blue.
And my new Evo IX RS gets delivered Thursday! Rally Red, or whatever they call it now. Maybe going from Apex Silver -> Rally Red won't hurt me as far as the cops, since I won't have a wing.

i don't think they'll care about switching them out, i'm sure they'll charge you for an hour of labor though. and i would much rather have some IX front seats in my VIII wether they matched the back or not, they're much nicer material.
