I would say if your looking for a new car i would go with a Evo or even a srt-4.. Just jump right past the STI.. The sti will cost you twice the amount of money to mod as a evo or srt-4. I would know as i had a wrx i know its not a sti but the modding path is the same for the most part. It gets very pricey for a sti once you want anything over 310whp.

You would need new turbo, injectors,Fmic, Piggy back ecu, ect ect and i could go on but you get the idea. evo turbo back, fuel pump, cams , tune lol easy as it gets. srt-4 not to sure but i bet its pretty easy also .

For a used import i would have to say a 3rd gen rx7 thoes things are so sick. They may be a little pricey to mod but sure is well worth it. Supra is always an option but i tend to see more supras then 3rd gen rx7s. could always go with a old R32 and go all out on it thier are sick also..

As for just a nice car to pimp out.. i have to aggree with the BMW's and Mercedes.. just depends on what you want.. next car for me iam hopeing for a 3rd gen rx7 but you know how it goes lol..

I can think of a few:

The SRT-4 I traded was pretty quick. As cheap as you can get them you've got a bunch of dough left to mod and they take mods well. Though I like my Evo I'd say the motor is a fair bit more smooth and nearly as powerful. I just had to have AWD and I LOVE the stock handling of the Evo.

How about a late 80's 911? Not quite as quick but a slick car that's got some snotty value. Heck, you can also pick up good late 70's 930's for under 30K. I've had both, loved both and miss 'em. Not as good an all-around car as the Evo but easily as fun though in different ways and can certainly be as fast.

I also had a '91 ZR-1 that I'd put up against most any Evo though the track had better be dry. That sucker was a close to a 4-wheeled sportbike as I've driven. You can find those for low to mid 20's and their motor is bullet-proof.

I think my mind would be made up with a 06 ix rs. There is only one problem though. I need to know if the X will be released and redesigned as a 07 model. Id like to know if they will make the ix for one more year as a 07. I know this information cant be found right?

Lightly modded 1978-1979 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo or more heavily modded 944 Turbo S would be faster and nice cars to drive

Evoled, are you looking for a daily driver or just a fun car. If it's going to be a daily then cars like the FD, Porsches, BMWs that some people have suggested just aren't good choices. Hell even if you're just looking for fun those are the kind of cars you're going to need to pay cash for or only get 1 or 2 years financing on, same goes for the Supra.

Best bang for buck in terms of speed would be the SRT-4, fast as long as it is from a roll.

Best track car bang for buck,

MIATA,

I can believe no one mentioned this. You can get a cheap good one for less then 5k and with suspension modified, it can threaten the supercars.

i saw a 04 srt4 for 13k. good for straight line power and cheap. but if you want all around power, handeling and dont mind paying for it get an evo. The evo is worth every penny in my oppinion.

IX RS! There is such a huge price difference between the other evo's, Just dont worry about the windows, tint them and keep'm closed. You'll be so fast with the basic bolt-ons, The abs on mine goes off so much that I wish I didn't have it. I know it's safer, But it seriously go off all the time if the stop is on loose gravel or on a slant, it's annoying.

You can buy my vr4 for $14,900. It is faster than many, maybe most daily driven EVO's. Granted it is old technology, but it gives me my jollies faster and better than any EVO I have ever driven or riden in, and it was hella lot cheaper. (fastest EVO I have riden in is a 450-475 whp)

Hell I guess the skies the limit. You can get a 2g Eclipse/Talon for $5k or less (that covers looks/sex appeal) then pay to put in a 2.4l with the works, suspenion, etc. Bing bang boom. To open ended of a question I think. This could be one of those threads that could go on forever with all different kinds of opinions and pros/cons.

However, in the end....most for the money (keeping in that $30k new) the Evo comes out on top.

Plus you can bring the kids, family, friends, etc with you whenever you want. HA It's the newer Galant VR-4 grocery getter in an up to date package ;-) (I'm sure that comment will get some hits....hehehe)

Lower price than an evo only a SRT-4. it can get to 300hp with a few mods but you have to deal with all that wheel spinning
