Calling out all 350Z\G35 owners
I need some advice, anyone who has owned or owns an evo and has gone to or already has a G35 coupe or 350Z. How do you like these cars, im thinking about trading my evo for a G35 coupe.
my brother has the G35C so i've driven it quite a bit. real nice car, but in terms of power and handling doesn't compare to the EVO, but you already knew that. Also a pain to drive in the snow. EVO is a lot more practical, but G35 is an excellent option if you want a more sophisticated sports car
TwinTurboed g35's (wannabe skylines) are nice. Forge/build the engine and have a real skyline - save the adaptive awd system. Still beats spending $80,000-100,000 when the Skyline comes to the US in 2007. If I had the money, I'd spend it on nothing else....

Anyways, to the thread starter, what is the reason why your trading? G35 is a amazing car, but if your looking to trade, I seriously would wait for the 2007 model, it's exterior shell is beautiful.

One's like an Evo and the other is like a Ralliart (no offense to the Ralliart owners)...
Seriously, they're not even close...
eh trading because I really don't need a "race" car anymore. I almost never go to the track because its too far away also when I drive around im just chillin with my friends. Also in terms of AWD my parents are buying a new M35 AWD so I can just drive that when it snows. ALSO when I saw it at the dealership I fell in love with the look and styling of it. The evo is a great car its just not practical for me anymore, not gonna race or do any work to it, all I do is drive around with my friends to parties and back and forth to work(which if 5 mins away.)

I own both an 05 Evo and a 04 350. The Evo is much faster (modded) and that's about it. The 350 gets MUCH more attention, is 100 X more comfortable, and for the amount of money i spent on it, you know exactly where all that money is. The quality is 100% grade A. However, with that said... I'm trying to sell my 350. I'm starting to get low on cash and have to let something go. Between the both, i'd rather have my Evo. Mostly because i LOVE autoXing and the Evo is hands down better in EVERY aspect of racing.
EDIT: If anyone is interested in a 350Z with 18,000 miles, i have one. I posted a thread about it in the "for sale" section about 2 months ago or so... Just do a search and you'll find pics and info about it. Looking to get $23,500

I owned a 350z for over a year, then switched to a 2005 Evo.
I could go on about the many things I loved and disliked about the 350, but instead I'll tell you why I switched to an evo: To FI the 350 and do it right, is a "Go big or go home" proposition IMHO. The evo was practical, easily modified (plus FI from the factory), and I could drive it year round.
To go TT or SC you really need to build the motor IMHO. Yes lots of ppl put on a kit and have plenty of success, but I just couldn't trust it. I wanted to drive my car every single day and runnign boost without a built motor: I'd always wonder if it was going to grenade on me.
Also, my 350 was out of commission all winter, and not a lot of fun in heavy rain (when I was trying to get somewhere, otherwise it's a blast int he rain). I had to have a second car/truck (Jeep to be exact) to run around in during the winter.
What really put me over the edge was that my 2004.5 350z's CPU hadn't been cracked yet and there weren't any total replacements on the horizon (though one guy had gotten a FCON working as a replacement). TT or SC without a totally programmable CPU on a stock motor was something I couldn't entertain. An outboard signal adjusting/interpreting fmu and/or timing controller just didn't feel right to me, not on a motor that wasn't designed for boost.
Oooooooh. The crappiest thing of all: I had one with the bad front end alignment "issue". Watch out for that. Ate up my potenzas and started sounding like a truck! That was not cool.
I loved it's looks and history, I loved the stock motor, it handles well, it's fun
But it's no evo, and the evo is no 350z.
Hope that helps a little. I still have a JWT popcharger and an untouched harness extension. If you get one and would like them, send me a PM.

I have a G35 Coupe and an 05 EVO, but before I go into a comparison of the cars I would have to ask: What you want out of your car?
I see you live in MA. Do you want the car to be reliable winter transportation? The G35 is a nightmare in snow. I have 275/40/18's tires on mine and even though they are all-season tires and I have the rear limited-slip with traction/stability control, the car slides around even at low speeds diving carefully. The EVO is *way* better, even on the same tires.
The G35 is more comfortable if you find yourself in the car for long periods of time. I bought mine as a business/commuter car, so the automatic transmission has saved my insanity.
The G35 has a more professional image to most people. I've taken some clients out in the Evo and they thought it was awesome, but others I wouldn't dare show-up in the Evo. That said, the G35 coupe rear seats are a joke (5'10" max) compared to the Evo. Also, the G35 has a shallow trunk that barely holds a set of golf clubs (maybe two travel, small, bags), but it does have a fold-down rear seat. As you know, the Evo seat doesn't fold, but it can holder bigger packages in the trunk.
The police give less notice to the G35 from my experience, both with stock exhausts--it's probably the wing that draws the most attention on the Evo.
Both cars have been fairly reliable. The G35 wouldn't start once in two years and the Evo has only had the waterpump recall issue (it failed on me at Pocono Raceway).
Both cars seem to hold their value based on depreciation of 2005 models, which should be a concern if you are considering the trade/sale of a 2005 Evo.
Finally, performance, the Evo is more agile and faster. The Evo is much cheaper to make faster still. If you want to autocross or do road course racing I'd suggest the Evo. The Evo is faster at the dragstrip, but the G35 with an automatic is dead consistent for bracket racing.
Mileage: I get better MPG in the Evo, 23MPG average since I've owned it and the G35 is averaging 20 MPG (automatic might sap a bit of mileage).
I would really think about your needs before making a rash decision about your 2005 Evo, if it's a second car then I'd say go for it. For me, I'd rather keep my Evo and buy a used 2002-2004 Corvette Z06. :-D

My good buddy and co-worker has an '03 G35. His is an automatic and very nice... He loves it and drag races it occasionally. In the 1/8th mile it runs 9.32 w/ (Intake/Plenum spacer/ UD Pulleys and Nice new 19" Wheels)
It is so dead accurate he could bracket race and win every time.
