EVO IX Question

I have been asking other knowledgeable people about the EVO about what will happen to the EVO IX when the EVO X comes out. The main question I have is what will happen to the IX because it is rather short order to come out with a relatively new vehicle and then less then two years later come out with something completely different. I don’t know it just does not make since for Mitsubishi to go through the effort of replacing the VIII with the IX and then one year after releasing the IX come out with the X. Any good response would be appreciated.

Dude no offense but who cares, it always happens...just buy the car already...this car is better than viagra and it will keep you smiling a lot longer too. The Evo is an amazing car and the 9 is proving to be one of the best. If you are going to have regrets and like the looks of the X then wait for it, just don't waste your energy trying to understand Mitsubishi's motives!

I got an IX and I love it. I have intentions of keeping the car for a LONG time and wouldn't be tempted when the X comes out because quite frankly I just don't like the looks of it already, but I bet it will be badass though.

I am curious on what model will be released next year. This is prety much the deciding factor in my purchase. If they release the X next year, I will be very very happy. If they release the IX again, I will be upset if they mechanically improved it. I wish we knew for sure...

as far as I can tell the X is going to be a 2008 model
the X's styleing and softening is what made me pull the trigger and get my 9
variable steering ratio... eewww

Its not called the evolution for nothing. They got to keep developing new technologies in order to continure their rivalry with Subaru. Mitsu is not developing the evo for mainstream first, but for WRC.

The Newest EVO will always be better then the last.

So buy the current one and start saving for the next one.

The Evo is built for spicing up mitsubishi's no-so-good brand image at this point. They don't care about WRC anymore as evident by their withdrawal this and next season.

If EVO withdraws from rally, the car will start to change for the worse. Chassis will grow in size, suspension gets softer and the car gets uglier. The new wrx is now a medium between performance and "luxury" to suit a market, and I won't buy one again (sti maybe tho). Not to mention when you start a new platform, you get issues. You won't discover the bulk of those issues until a ways down the line, and when you realize maybe that car isn't that tight. I'm just being a pessimist, and if it's anything like the evo 9, I'm sure it'll be a fantastic car, and another terribly good value from mitsu. Should be fun to see how it goes.

Mitsubishi motors has withdrawn from WRC level rallying, but they are still the car of choice in Grp N (PWRC).
