That was an unfair comparison, the evo VI was modded (check the exhaust) so it had an advantage. Plus, the evo IX may not be faster for a professional race car driver, but for the everyday joes such as you and me, the evo IX is much faster because of its electronic assistance.

I never understood why more magazines never made a note on this. I bet if you take 10 evo owners and have them track their VIII/IX and then track a VI, i guarantee you more of them get faster results on the VIII/IX.

The grass is always greener on the other side and this is an example of it. The VI is very fast, dont get me wrong, but dont think that its any better than the IX. Its called "evolution" for a reason.

You dont have to tell me. I own VI and dont get me wrong the car is **** but its called the Evolution not the De-evolution. If I can squeeze the pennys I'm trading for a IX.

Honda is the only company I know that can make a car better almost 10 years ago that is better than most of its new cars.

The IX was FQ-320, so it wasn't exactly standard either...

I traded Evo 8 to Evo 6 and IMO, the 6 is better. Of course, due to "evolution of the evolutions" there's a lot more electronic wizardry in the newer cars. Is it necessarily better? Well, it depends. I had chance to compare the 8 and the 6 neck to neck on a ice track. The 6 is much more predictable. Since mine is RS2, there's no ACD, AYC or ABS. You always know what the car is doing next, while this is not the case with the 8. Especially the ACD seems to have life of it's own. Ralliart ACD ECU is cure for this, but I never had the chance to try it.

Both are excellent cars, no question. The 8 might be easier to toss around and it might be more forgiving, but the 6 is much more rewarding. Which one you prefer is of course a matter of taste, but IMHO you can't say that 6 is overrated, it's just different. And it was the last evo which served as a base for factory rally car.

Thats the key. In US spec form stock for stock the 9RS will walk all over the 6RS. But thats just my opinion. Im no racecar driver, just an enthusiast. I think in the end most people love the VI due to looks.

I agree that most people love the VI just because the looks. Can't tell would the 9 RS be faster or not, but one thing is certain: you can't go wrong with the Evo, no matter which one you have!

I had a VI before i got the new IX now and my opinion is, that the VI is more fun and agile to drive and the IX might be faster but is a little bit boring... just compared to a VIer ofcourse...
