Need Advice

Hi I have a 06 EVO 9 and I need advice on how to get this car up to 400whp.

I know there are alot of things you can do get this number but I want to do so without changing the turbo, engine internals(except for maybe cams).

Is this possible? A couple local evo owners told me it was and that the fuel system was good for about 400-450whp. Is that true?

Not sure about the fuel system being that good, might want to change the pump....maybe....

280 cams
3 inch exhaust
ported mani
ebay 02 housing
open intake
Alky injection
manual boost controller
reflash
boost gauge

There you go, that should get you 400 to the wheels with 93 octane, or something very close. This would be on a dynojet.....and if it doesn't hit 400 it's about as far as you're going to go on the stock turbo, without nitrous.

I dont think 400 on pump will be doable like that...then again Im not sure.

I'd say:

3" Exhaust, Turboback
Intake/Filter/Something to replace the factory box
272 or 280 Cams
Buschur 20G-9 turbo, tubular manifold or Buschur's ported piece (works super well)
800cc or in that range injectors
Flash/ECU
Alchohol injection

Id say pushing the stock turbo that hard will inevitably make it necessary to go for a big turbo.

Conservative tunes on even GT35 turbos yield 400whp marks. Pushing the stock block, which reminds me, ARP headsuds Id say are a must in this case.

Good luck

Let me ask this. Is the flange to the manifold a t3 flange?

Forgot we were talkin about a 9.

Well, Id say wait on the cams....and a MIVEC treatment. Honda users with VTEC have found great power gains when tinkering with that unit.

Either way, 400whp just doesnt pop up, it does take quit a bit of work. With the Evo-9 the way it is with the upgraded turbo, Mivec and such, it might be easier.

You only need to do just two things!

-2.3 stroker kit
-tune

There you go. That's it.
