my evo9mr has the tapping noise that sounds like it's coming from the windshield sometimes. almost sounds like the wiper blades are rattling against the window. i posted the tsb below.

lght output is made that way because street signs and things are on the right hand side of the road, and that left side is lower beacuse you dont want to blind on coming traffic that is on your lefthand side

for the rattle, found on another thread

TSB-05-42A-005 Released March 2005 (titled: Winshield creaking noise while driving)

1 Test drive to verify noise is coming from A pillar area
2 use a soft trim stick to remove the side windshield moulding from the cowl trim - do not remove the cowl trim for this procedure
3 obtain adhesive-backed thin felt material from BSR kit (MR991752) Cut six felt pieces, approx 70 mm x 5 mm
4 Remove the liner from the back of the felt pieces. Affix the felt on the inner clips. Affix one felt piece to each of the three inner clips Repear on the other side.
5 Be sure that the outer moulding clips (four on each side) are securely attached to the body retension stud. IF the clips are not properly attached, noise may result
6 Reinstall the windshield side moulding
7 test drive to verify the noise is eliminated.

The Evo is not a perfect car. Preformance wise it is pretty close to being perfect, but it will have it's little quirks, squeaks, annoying sounds and such. Just be glad you don't drive a RS.

Benz does the same thing with their headlights and I am sure other manufacturers do it to. they lower the aim slightly on the left light so it doesnt blind oncoming traffic. I am sure that is intentional particularly for HID head lights

I had the problem with the windshield creckin in the VIII and think I might have it in the IX.

With the VIII, Mitsu released a TSB, so I got it done and the rattle went away.
They forgot to put this felt between the window and plastic that holds it.
Don't know why they would forget again.

The job only took 20-30 mins at the dealer.

The only problem is there is no TSB yet. Last time when there was a TSB, I had a hard time convincing my local dealer that there was one. I had to drive there 3 times (hour away-60 miles) even though the first time I called them I gave them the TSB number and told them I'd like to make 1 trip.

your left side is lower, because you don't want to blind the oncoming traffic.

left side is always lower, since we don't have a self adjusting hid housing like bmw, benz, audi.. list goes on and on.

My right one is always been higher than the left.

WOW... I thought I was the only one with the annoying uneven lights... awesome that it's actually built that way and I just didn't notice it right away.

My evo IX is about 2 months old, and I am getting the noise from the windshield. Was going to ask the dealer to look at it during my first service. Evo kid where did you get information on the TSB? Does anyone know if there is one out for the IX?
