Yep, get the Evo. I also own a couple of bimmers ( 1983 BMW320I, 1993 BMW325IS, 2001 BMW M3) and I actually love the evo better than I did the M3. The M3 interior is ofcourse alot better but if you are looking for performance, cornering and just overall fun, you'll love the Evo

They are different cars, both of which I love. And I own both. 2002 M Coupe and Talon and I have driven many EVO's.

I will say, the aftermarket is much better for an EVO though. Dinan and companies like them charge huge amounts of money for parts and computer tuning. The nice thing about Dinan is that they are authorized by BMW and their parts and tuning will not void the warranty if I remember correctly.

All in all, you will get more horsepower per dollar spent if you go with the EVO. But I must admit, I love the looks you get when you roll up in the M Coupe.

Just my $.02. Good luck with your purchase.

I can't believe the "teenagers car" comments in regards to the Evo. A ralliart lancer or something along those lines is a "teenagers car", not an Evo. I can't believe people see such a machine, something that can put shame to far more expensive cars as being a little teenage ricer rocket!

Do they not realise just how hardcore the Evo is?

EDIT:

BTW, notice to all the ****** EVO and SRT4 and STI drivers.
I own a 1988 Mustang GT with that cost me $4000 after i was finished with all the bolt-on performance parts, and my car will literally OWN each and every one of your stupid little cars with FI. 11.95 on the 1/4 mile and 0-60 in under 4 seconds. And you would waste $15k-$25k and a LANCER!!! Holy ***** there are some stupid mother F*ckers out there today, isn't there?

The fastest cars in the world didn't come that way stock!!!! I've seen modified e46's on this board beat EVOs and other wanna be cars. That's right, they're all wanna be cars
.

^^ What an a55hole. Wannabe cars? coming from a 3-series owner?

i sold my 95 m3 and got an EVO. all i can say is the EVO rules compared to my m3. pretty much better EVERYTHING!!! i still read bimmerforums and its funny what people say about EVO's...and its all coming from people with 1 tracked minds...i must admit when i owned the m3 i was that way till i got owned by an srt4 and a evo by multiple car lengths...thats when i decided to come over to the dark side and lovin every bit of it.

I too am a new EVO owner, 06 MR.

I just sold my Phoenix Gold 03 M3 to buy my EVO, HANDS DOWN better than the M. I thought all those Yuppie do-dads is what I wanted, but the price to upgrade the M is rediculous for what? 3-4 hp on the exhaust?

BMW has really just become a little too obsessed with gadgetry, I don't think I will buy another NEW BMW again, that said I do own possibly the best BMW made, an E30 M3, the first. Very much like the EVO, high strung 4 banger, boxy fenders, and minimal comfort, in a sense, kindred spirit to the EVO.

I fear for the concept X, the DCS is pretty much like the SMG on the M, it's nice at highway speeds, but a PITA to drive around town, it's not as responsive and fun as left foot, shift, right foot. I'd steer clear of the clutchless X.

I'm VERY pleased with my IX MR.

I bought 4 new BMWs between 1988 and 1995. The last one was an E36 M3, which I kept for 8 years and put 90,000 miles on it. When the ugly Bangle cars came out, I swore I'd never buy another BMW until they fire that putz. I went through a 350Z that I totalled on the racetrack, and now my track car is an '04 EVO RS, and my daily driver is an '04 Audi S4. Will never look back. Next car? C6 Z06 if I can find $70,000 jingling in my jeans.
