EVO IX "Market Value Adjustment"

So I'm starting to look around at EVO pricing in my area since my wife has finally given me the go ahead to sell the Spec-V and get an EVO IX this summer. I know, I'm a little early. But I tend to research things like this WAY ahead of time.

I stopped by to look at a WW IX MR that Fox Mitsubishi here in Grand Rapids, MI has. To my suprise, tacked on the side of the window sticker is a little note saying, "+$1945 Market Value Adjustment". What?!

Are dealers still getting away with this kind of stuff? I've seen posts by dealers on here selling MRs for close to, if not at, invoice+TTL. And Fox wants MSRP + 2k "Market Value Adjustment"?! Give me a break.

it's called negotiation. Go in there and haggle. That's part of the car buying process.

I hear yaa. When the MR's 1st came out, 1 of the SA dealers had a 5k "market adjustment". Make a long story short I got my MR under msrp. Internet shop as much as you can, get your under msrp quote online anf go for it. Never pay over msrp. Look at the new Shelby 500. Ford dealers are already planning on jacking it up 10-15k for the 1st couple of months. After a year that car's going to be under msrp like the terminators were. If people are starting to pay under msrp on ebay for a Ford GT with only 4000 being made, there's no way in the hell you should pay over for an evo. When you get one, rub it in that dealers face. good luck

Actually my evo IX MR was priced at 39,900.. lol, I got it for 34.5 but they will try to push the Market Value Adjustment, then when you have them talked down from it... they make it seem that your getting like 5K off the deal.... Its pretty sneaky.

when i went to buy my IX, the dealer had a Market Value Adjustment figure of almost $5500. that's pure dealer profit and is put there for rich folk who come in to buy evos for their 16 year old kids. i completely ignored that figure and after several please of 'no, we cannot go below invoice', ended up getting my brand new IX base for 32k out the door. dont be afraid to walk out of the showroom if they wont play ball. there are plenty other dealerships out there that will gladly accept invoice or a bit less.

I'm also from G.R. and I'm planning on buying an Evo this spring. I'll try to negotiate, but I doubt they'll come down as low as South Coast Mitsubishi:

If they can't match their price plus the $755 I've been quoted for shipping, then I'm ordering it from California. This should be a good negotiating tool.

Do not buy it for anything over msrp, trust me if you negotiate with them long enough, you'll get a great price, if not look into another dealership.

Thanks for all the advice guys.

Hey ShiftySVT, we should go in and say, "What kind of a deal can you give us on two EVO's right now."

If you think that's bad, some of the early 03 EVO 8 owners like me had to pay an extra. Almost every dealer mark up was averaging $10k.

That's a good idea. I see on their website that they have 2 MRs on lot. What color was the other one? Unless it's red, I may have to fight you for the white one. I would go check them out, but I'm at school (Michigan Tech.) right now. I'll be coming home in three weeks for spring break. If Fox still has an Evo on the lot, I'm going to go check it out. I hope nobody pays a mark-up or even MSRP, because they'll think that is the going price around west MI. I'll show them what their competition in CA is selling them for. They probably never thought they would be competing for customers with dealers in CA.
