Question Help: Evo X engine replacement just started and broke the clock spring

2008 Evo X GSR. Engine, transmission, and transfer case all refurbished by Boostin. I was lowering the sub-frame to get ready for ready install and of course ****ed up. I didn't fully remove the steering shaft bolt and it pulled the shaft from the wheel. In the process of trying to un-**** this using my paint marks (on shaft & rack) the steering wheel moved and damaged the clock spring.

I know I need to replace the clock spring, but do I need to worry about the position of the steering rack before raising the sub-frame back in to place? I recall the steering wheel was straight when I caused this mess, so don't think the rack would have easily moved.

For sequencing, do I basically install the engine, transmission, and transfer case + all mechanicals and do sub-frame last?

I would just install as normal then you will probably just do relearn of the steering position sensor then an alignment.

Thank you! Any advice on order of re-installing everything given my sub-frame is already removed? I was planning on assembling engine + transmission + manifolds/turbo outside of the car, then lowering it in with a cherry picker. Next I would install the transfer case and sub-frame from bottom and connect all mounts. Most videos tackle only a piece of this, so the exact order of things and attaching motor mounts is bothering me. Trying to avoid getting halfway and running in to problems.

well you should put it back to how it was, assuming it was all centered before. since youre also removing the steering wheel eventually maybe you can "correct it" there (?)

for sequencing yes. with my evo9 one thing that wont just "work out easily" is connecting the ACD line. I had to position the motor like if the front transmission mount was installed but really it was tiring and a waste trying to connect it before all the mounts are in place
