Random Cyl. Misfire?
Random Cyl. Misfire?
so i changed my oil a couple weeks ago. i put in 5 quarts. noticed it was over the line. looked around on here and saw that the evo only takes 4.6 or something. but i figured since the car burns a bit of oil anyways ill just take it easy on it until it burns off the extra. well i didnt really take it easy, it went two weeks just fine but yeasterday i got on the freeway and as soon as i hit 80ish my check engine light came on. i took it to autozone today and it read P0300 random Cyl. misfire. he cleared the code and it didnt come back during the ride home. ill drain the extra off tomorrow. im just wondering if i could have actually damaged my motor?.
get used to it buddy, that p0300 is going to be with you for a very long time (maybe even the life of your car). as long as it's just teh ember light and semi rough idle...drivability issues should be nill. but there are some ppl that get the crazy 3500rpm 300 code that causes the car to stutter.
you might want to try getting a dynoflash from Al...it may be able to fix this.

Mitsu bought back my first Evo because the P0300. It had a miss that would just about put you through the windshield though.
Mitsu has a reflash that is supposed to take care of it but, I don't know if it actually works or not.

Drain it to the correct level and keep an eye on it (every other gas fill)

I hope your car is stock and still under factory Warrenty. P0300 is not good. I had my 04 Lemon Lawed because of it. If you are not under Warrenty just clear it and go. In Ca the car will have trouble passing Smog with P0300 in the PCM Memory. This will be a issue if you sell the car over here, the seller is required to provide the Smog Cert.
