Hey man, welcome to the forum. You should just go test drive the Evo. Maybe you'll drive it and it'll let you down, never meet your heroes as they say, then you'll be happier than ever with your RX-8. Worst case scenario you realize the Evo is the car for you and you get an Evo and you're happier then you were with the RX-8. It's pretty much a win win situation.Originally Posted by AnimagixRx8
In time I'll eventually get it. thanks guys.
As for a testdrive, just go to a Mitsubishi dealership and be serious about a purchase. Calling a dealership the way you did is the wrong way to go about it. If you do call one find out what models they have, what colors, with what options... If you just call a dealership and don't express any serious interest in their specific cars they have first they're going to think you're just out for a joyride. If they still deny you a testdrive then go find another dealership, there are good and bad dealerships with every manufacturer, though Mitsubishi does seem to have more then its fair share of bad ones.

I have a highly modded third gen RX7, an 05 Evo VIII, and an 04RX8 GT package in the family...I was actually disappointed by the Evo's power up top straight off the showroom floor. I was really saying "that's it?" in my head while driving around. The handling was awesome however and it's much more forgiving than the 7 and about the same as the 8. I then spent about a grand on basic mods and I'm much more happy with the Evo's power. I know with the RX8, the power will never be there, so just appreciate it for what it is, a BMW 325 competitor and left it at that. The car just isn't worth modding extensively and the factory did a pretty good job with the RX8. The Evo is actually more practical from a transporting people and things perspective and the SSL package brings it a bit closer to the RX8's interior, but still far from it! It's liveable none the less. And even though I don't currently need it (except in rain), the all-weather capability is nice to have with the Evo. Yeah, it's a bit immature in the looks department compared to the RX8, but given it's performance, I can live with that. The gas mileage has been fairly good too, much better than the RX8 as long as I'm not flooring the Evo's gas pedal every chance I get. If the RX8 had the Evo's power, it might be more of a contest between the two for which was driven more frequently.
