Insurance rate increase

I had heard someone the other day talking about how the rating of the Evolution had gone up quite a bit, like double the original amount. I am currently with State Farm and have not seen a rate change. The question is: who has seen this insurance rate hike, and what insurance company do you have that has given you this increase?

Search, there was just a thread on this

basically the evo has been flagged as a car involved in illegal street races, and since people love crashing this car, it has also been flagged as a high risk automobile.

I already read through that post and it was more or less people telling other people to stop driving like maniacs, which is good advice. My intention here is to see what insurance carriers have increased rates.

i have state farm also and mine hasnt been increased. Go onto the insurance sites and do a free quote. That would probably help you out.

Progressive quoted me 1500 more per 6 months then state farm charges me

Good to hear, this was more of a way for me to feel out if anyone with state farm has seen a rate increase yet. I'm glad that you haven't

I just switched from Encompass to Mercury in November. Rates haven't changed for me yet.

The company that has gone up the most seems to be Geico.

That's what I heard as well. I am going to check with my agent Tuesday to see what the future holds and update all of those with State Farm. I just can't imagine making a monthly payment on my insurance that is larger than my monthly payment on my car.

I posted in the other thread too but basically I called my insurance company(Geico) and got a quote from them. I have 2 cars right now...03 ES and 03 Mazda 5. I asked how much would it be if I dropped the 03 ES and added an 03 Evo(I plan on buying a used 03) and it would only go up like $30 a month. I thought that was not bad at all.

The Evo has a higher insurance rate than a new Corvette (across ALL age groups; it doesn't matter). I know because I just checked. Older guys (usually for Corvettes) don't race on the streets or crash very often and there are a lot more Corvettes out there.

This is sad but true. my vette is expensive to insure mostly because of vandals keying the cars regularly, not crashes.

Just think about how many wrecks we have seen on the forums alone. The first weeks of winter we had one or two totally smashed evo's a day. That's just on the forum.

There aren't enough EVO's to balance out that kind of statistic. Basically if you pay 2k a year in insurance your odds of wrecking your evo in any given year are 1 in 30.
The other thousand dollars goes to pay for the other guys car.

Sobering odds.

Drive Safely.
