spec question

I'm lookin to get an 03 w/10 000 miles for $ 22 000, ( will offer 20) and I know it doesn't have the mivec like the ix, and 286 torque like the 05 but i'm already pushin my budget in the low 20's. ( rough year). Anyway, this might sound very noob but do people actually mod they're 03's or 04's to 05 specs. I'm not exactly sure what mitsu did to bump up the numbers to 276/286. Something to do with a larger turbine nozzle and wastegate? the reason i'm asking is because when i mention getting an 03, people always say to just get an 05 bc of the increased numbers. So, here are my questions

- what exactly are the perf upgrades on the 05
-do people with 03's mod they're car with the 05 upgrades
-if it is something to be done, what kind of money are the parts.

Some of u will probably say not to bother bc u can get the same if not better results with a tbe and boost controller etc and i did take that into consideration. Thanx for any enlightenment.

it should help out with the top end...and give more stable boost. It should be noticeble going from the 9.8 to the 10.5...depending on ur lvl of mods you may feel a huge diff. I plan on getting the 10.5 and TTP o2 housing as soon as i get money.

no not really...you can get it now if you want. TBE and MBC is good start...and should give you a good increase in power.

Thanks dude. I want a ix so bad so i need someone to tell me that the 8 is still an awesome machine and that it's a great buy regardless of the 9's upgrades. Especially with 10 000 miles. last post and thanx again man.

the 8 even without a 10.5 or Mivec is still an awesome machine...it just takes alil more mods to get the power that the IX is putting down with mods.

I'd almost say the Buschur 20g-9 would be the perfect upgrade.

But for now, I'd stick with the Warrtalon "Stages 1-2" + 10.5 hotside.

This is the thing with modding...make your own choices...whether you want to buy the most expensive or the cheapest parts you make the choice...anyone can tell you get this stg upgrade or this brand of part etc...no dis to WT the man is awesome and his stg kits will get you some really good power . I mean there is a basic mod path to follow, TBE,MBC,drop in,flash etc... just saying choose what you think is right for you...not what the majority of ppl think is right.
