2005 evo boosting too high?

I have a 2005 evo and I barely got a boost gauge installed. It shows that the car is boosting at 24 psi with leaning out. I have a dual stage boost controller is it safe to run like that? My air to fuel gauge shows that it runs fine at that amount of boost!

I wouldn't without headstuds. Plus your timing curve won't nearly be as nice. To answer your question -- yes our cars can run on that much boost but being stock I would't advise it.

Unless you have a wideband o2 that air/fuel gauge is nothing but a light show. Turn the boost down if your car is not tuned, your probably running pretty lean without adding anymore fuel to the mix via a flash or apexi SAFC

what type of controller do you have?? i have the profec b and mine is set to run around 19.5 to 20 but i get spikes sometimes where it would boost to 24 psi. ive got the warning set at 20 but it doesnt stop it. didnt know if you have the same controller or not

NO turn down the mf MBC , shoot for 21psi and search next time

22 psi is probley safe, on the air fuel wide band 11-12.5 is safe

Mine also spikes this high and then settles down to about 18psi

12.5 is near the ragged edge of what I would consider safe. (on 93octain)

mine has not been messed with and i show boost spikes to 25 psi on the stock solenoid valve. It will retard your timing though so go with a safe 19.5psi. If your on a manual boost controller cant help you much there but with an electronic one you can adjust your gain to keep this stuff from happening

I run 24 psi everyday on stock turbo you dont need head studs if your car is not tuned for that psi you will hit fuel cut and drop down to 19 something getting to redline. I hold 24 psi all the way to 7800rpm i use to run this with stock cams and with the 280's now. Its ok man dont worry about it and you also dont need a wideband if your cars ecu has never been touched with a flash you dont have to wory about your afr because it will always run a lil rich so its safe to run that psi without hurting anything.
